Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort & Slide & Splash Waterpark

The hotel is lovely, with an impressive set up of facilities - only two floors in height. The adult only indoor pool/gym is right at the top, which then filters down to the adult only outdoor pool, and then to the family pools - so it is well thought out. The room we stayed in was on the bottom floor, it was clean and spacious. The food was very good, with plenty of options at breakfast. We visited the buffet at lunch time once, as there was an outdoor grill where staff cooked beef burgers/hot dogs from 12.30pm. We booked the restaurants each night. The Italian was great - excellent food/drink, plenty of options for our daughter (6). One night we visited the Canico Cave restaurant, well worth a visit. Book for the first sitting and a window seat (for the fantastic view), as it’s small and gets busy! The drinks options at the hotel were excellent, there’s no need to buy the premium upgrade as what’s on offer is more than sufficient (very impressive) - all known brand drinks. While there were queues for the cocktail bar, there are plenty of other pop up bars to get soft drinks, beer and wine - where there were hardly any queues. Every pool had a pop up drinks station. The staff were helpful from when we arrived to when we left. Courteous, happy, professional. The kids club: Our daughter went a few mornings and enjoyed them. The kids disco is at 5.30, which is too early. The main entertainment then starts at 9+. The staff had a lovely way with the children and seemed to get them all engaged. There’s a private bridge from the hotel to the beach - when on the beach, walk a few hundred yards left and you come to the Canico restaurant. A major down side of the hotel: all pools are freezing. The hotel advert states 'heated pools' - it was the main reason for us booking the hotel... some Staff claimed that the pools are heated - but that must be in the middle of the night, as they are not warm at any point of the day (I checked as early as 7am). So it's misleading. They were so cold that our daughter could only spend a few mins in them before she wanted to come out due to her shivering. Everyone we spoke to there highlighted the same issue. We were told that the temperature was due to the weather, but they were never warm at any point of the day - the point of 'heated pools' is that they are constantly fed warm water, but cold water was being pumped into the pools. A shame as it did put a damper on the experience. 5* if the pools were warm.

Our family holiday was perfect at this hotel. The service, the food, the facilities and the location were all excellent. We would highly recommend and can't wait to return

Great family trip - went with our 2yo who was kept entertained with the kids pool and playground. The hotel has great facilities, is in a great location (the beach nearby is beautiful), and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff were really friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. The only thing that let down our stay was the delayed start to the transfer to the hotel and then a very drawn out transfer.
