Pestana Alvor Park

Hotel is modern and clean, public areas are immaculate. The staff are friendly and helpful and all speak good English. The room was spacious and clean with a very large attractive balcony that included a table, 4 chairs and two sun loungers. All rooms face the same way into the sun. The kitchen was functional but looking a little tired. There was an additional shower room/toilet in addition to ensuite bathroom. The additional shower room was a little cramped and both bathrooms showed some signs of water damage. The bed configuration was two single beds next to each other, would have preferred a double. The beds were uncomfortable, so they offered us mattress toppers but they never arrived. The location is about a mile from the beach and a third of a mile from the edge of town. It's uphill all the way back but not too bad. We had a problem where the hotel had no record of us prepaying breakfast, we had to prove we had. Don't know whether this was Jet2's or the hotel's error. Hot breakfast items were always lukewarm but a reasonable choice of foods. I wish we'd not done the breakfast option especially as there was adequate kitchen facilities and also we had to miss a breakfast that we'd paid for on the last day as our coach arrived before the restaurant was open. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

We arrived at the hotel late afternoon, having spent around six hours in Faro Hospital as a result of an injury sustained during the inbound flight without any luggage which should have been transported to the hotel via the airline as promised. The reception staff immediately responded to our flight by attempting to find the whereabouts and continued with their search until the cases eventually arrived just after lunch the next day. they were brilliant and continued in this way as we tried to make contact with our UK based travel insurers. Nothing was too much trouble. Because of my wife's injury we rarely left the hotel and found it very relaxing with a superb pool and facilities. It was so good that we have booked again for October this year but for a longer stay. As regards location, it is situated on hilly ground and subject to a taxing walk from the local facilities not suited to the capability of a guest with a leg injury sustained in the aircraft hence the slightly lower score for this category. Otherwise it would be five stars all round.

Hotel was fantastic, great room, service, staff were very friendly and informative .Location was perfect, 10 mins into town then another 10 to main area with many bars and restaurants . Bus service to Portimao was a nice day out but wouldn't rush back there .
