Pestana Alvor Praia Premium Beach Resort

Spent a week here in mid April and can highly recommend. Great room, very spacious with sea view. Large and peaceful garden between hotel and beach. Excellent quality buffet food, everything anyone could want, whatever their diet! Efficient and friendly staff. Lots of sea front restaurants nearby if you prefer to eat out. Would definitely return here if travelling to the Algarve.

Can't fault this hotel. Staff, service, breakfast and views.....all amazing. Can't wait to return. Great choice of buffet breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed each morning as the pianist played some relaxing music....heaven

Poor service from reception staff especially on arrival. Arrived at about 11am but room check in was 3pm . The reception promised to speed this up and get us in by 1pm, which was reasonable, but did not. Following on from this we asked at 3pm for our roo, we were then advised of a further 10 minute delay, it was not. The excuse for the further delay was that the room had to be thoroughly checked was clearly not true. One gaining entry to the first room we were offered the air conditioning remote did not work The room we booked was classed as superior but we did not feel it was any better than an average motel room for size and so we asked for a different room . The second room was more superior we felt but had no balcony but we accepted this. Despite this initial poor service experience overall we found our stay was excellent and the location of the hotel very good. We only booked bed and breakfast and this was good with a reasonable range of choice which was generally tasty. Coffee was very good, the fruit juices were a bit hit or miss. Maybe avoid the powdered scrambled egg and 'bacon'. The white wine the bar served, Alhambra, we found it at the local supermarket priced at about 2.5 euros a bottle, they charged 5 euros a glass. We eat out in the evenings and there were lots of very nice places to eat, (Atlantida, O Luis, Mediterramente and Luisitania our favourites), occasionally with a 'slow' but generally very good service and reasonable value for money. On balance we would return to this hotel but they might want to improve the customer care of their reception staff.

Really enjoyed our relaxing golf break at the Pesta Alvor Praia. We stayed for one week. We didn't ask for a sea view and was allocated a room at the front of the hotel. The room was large, airy and clean with a patio area and small kitchen. Towels changed twice a day. The staff in reception were helpful and friendly as was all the hotel staff. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Views from the pool over the sea were breathtaking. And the beach was clean with a couple of nice restaurants. Easy access via a lift. Alvor is a 5 euro taxi ride away and taxis are plentiful and prompt. All golf courses were within 45 minute transfer times. All welcoming and well organised. If going as a two ball you are paired with another couple, which we hope improved our. European relations. Only downside was one course had greens sanded and this effected the game slightly. Hotel stores are clubs for us and we're attentive in retrieving them for us when they wee needed.

Alvor Praia is one o f my favourite hotels. We go twice a year to Alvor and always stay here. Breakfast has everything one could possibly want. We tend to walk down to the village in the evening so can't comment on the evening meals. Rooms are a good size and housekeeping is excellent. All of the hotel staff are lovely. Looking forward to my next visit in May!

Booked this holiday with Jet 2 last year before the Hotel closed for alterations and booked a Deluxe room. When we arrived at 12:15pm we were told room keys were to be issued at 3:00pm (new policy) left bags at reception and went into Alvor returned at 3:00pm to be told room was not ready finally given keys to room 523 this was in my opinion no way a De luxe room it was little more than a box room with 2 twin beds in it not a double and the wardrobe situated in the bathroom. Returned to reception and demanded to see the manager told her the room was unacceptable and we would not be staying in it we were offered room 244 but at a supplement of 85 euros per night not happy at all but agreed reluctantly to take it as it was better than room 523. As for the upgrade of the Hotel the decking in my opinion was of inferior quality and already starting to lift (trip hazard) it remains to be seen if it stands the test of time unlikely. As for the food at the pool bar 14 euros for a chicken sandwich 16 euros for a hamburger and 2.5 euros for a pastel de nata speak for them selves. Returned to room one day at 5:15pm room had not been cleaned some policy, finally cleaned at 6:00pm, checked again the following day at 3:15pm not cleaned again despite assurances from the manager that it would be cleaned, big training issue with cleaning staff (not enough), had to ask for coffee on more than one occasion at breakfast again another training issue staff seemed unsure as what to do. have been to this hotel many times before, it has already been downgraded from 5 star to a 4 star plus, in my opinion room 523 would only rate 3 star, if they hope to achieve 5 star status again then they have some way to go. I will need convincing that things have improved before I will be making a return visit

great Hotel, great position, great weather. love the hotel. refurbished in May. Always stayed at Alvor Park hotel but have lost may heart to the Praia and will certaintley look to stay here in the future.

i could write a lengthy review as i usually would but i won't. we have been spending all our overseas holidays since 1991 on the algarve, that won't change, what will change is choosing the hotel based on whatever offer is open to me when booking. we will be spending ALL future holidays on the Algarve in this hotel.
