Villa Rufolo

Villa Rufolo

Villa Rufolo was built in the 13th century for the Rufolo dynasty and was home to several popes. Wagner stayed here in 1880 while writing his opera Parsifal and the gardens inspired the setting of its second act. Today the gardens, at their best from May till October, are used to stage a classical music festival.
