On The Rocks Hotel

Arrived in Santorini and was pleasantly surprised at how easy the transfer was. We were then dropped off at our meeting point for the Hotel ( knowing that it was inaccessible by minibus ) & waited around 5 minutes for our concierge to come & collect our luggage and take us to our hotel. He was super polite and friendly and managed our cases well. The area we were dropped off in was not the nicest and at first we were a little unsure but Wow !! Once we got to the top of the hill and turned the corner it was breathtaking! The reception staff were so welcoming and quickly checked us in and got us and our cases to our room and explained how to order breakfast etc plus gave us both complimentary glasses of wine to enjoy. Sadly we weren’t happy with our room so popped back to reception a short while later to let them know. As it was already around 8.30pm they asked if we’d be ok to stay there for the night and they’d try and sort out the room in the morning. We were ok with this , the room was clean but very small but our main issue was that we thought we’d booked a room with a private balcony , this room had a shared one which we weren’t happy with. We then wandered out for dinner. The next morning we went to reception and straight away were told that they’d found us another rooms which was an upgrade and would be ready for us by lunchtime. Deana took us to the room to check it was ok and it was wonderful , stunning view , huge room , private balcony and next to the pool so perfect ! One issue , if you’re not particularly fit was the steps back up , they’re hard work ! I am pretty fit and run 3 times a week but they absolutely sent my legs to jelly daily !! 117 steps just to get to reception, all up hill and all different shapes and widths but I guess that’s what you get with a hotel built into the rocks ! Maria one of the receptionist was one of the must friendly and helpful people I’ve ever met and she always had time for a little chat and was interested in how we were and what we’d been up to. The Bar staff and Breakfast Staff were also ultra polite and helpful. All in all a wonderful stay. Just bare in mind that Santorini is rocky , hilly and has very steep climbs. We absolutely loved it but doubt we’d ever return. I think it was an absolutely perfect one off.
