Psalidi
Enchanting sights stretch along the coast in this retreat. You’ll have plenty on your doorstep if you want to keep the buzz of the capital at arm’s length. It’s a magnet for fresh fish tavernas, making every mealtime score gold. Down by the shore, you can enjoy stunning sea views.
Keep things simple and enjoy the quiet nature of Psalidi, but don’t forget about the party scene later on. You’ll find a modest clutch of bars and restaurants not far from the beach, so you can kick on within easy distance. Sample sumptuous seafood, or sip endless cold cocktails – you choose.
Beautiful beaches
Look around and you’ll see beautiful greenery and trees giving the resort its tucked-away charm. You’ll enjoy relaxing the fine sands and shingly patches here, as well as making a splash in the cool waters. You can even get sporty on the waves if you fancy something more full-throttle.

So I’m rating this hotel a 2 star for the following reasons:
1- the staff were rude and uncooperative most of the time unless they’re on the front desk and a few exceptions at the various bars here, they mostly don’t speak English which you may think is understandable being that this isn’t an English speaking country however they should at least know some basic stuff however most don’t, especially not the room service or cleaners as they have completely ignored me and my partner when we told them we don’t want them to clean the whole time being here and we’ve even had our “do not disturb” sign ignored on multiple occasions. The cleaners have also sometimes not even done their job after ignoring demands not to come in and have instead made more of a mess leaving towels (dirty not new) strewn across the floors and have left bathroom cleaning products sprayed and splattered up walls and all over the bathtub for us to then have to clean up. They also on one occasion were smoking in my room while “cleaning” which is ridiculous considering how unsafe and unsanitary that is and I could’ve had asthma and that could’ve caused an asthma attack.
2- the rooms were less than stellar, we were shown pictures of extremely nice looking and modern rooms with nicely painted walls and clean, new furniture and head boards for the beds but OH BOY were we misled, the headboards were nothing more than a few pieces of particleboard glued together with some sockets for a phone and light switches and a plug for charging and the whole thing was not secured to the wall at least instead you could tap it and it would rock back and forth which is really unsafe as it could’ve fallen and hurt me and my partner while we slept or relaxed in our beds!! Speaking of which the beds were extremely hard and took time to get comfortable in and the sheets felt itchy. The exterior of the rooms however this including the balcony/ porch you get plus the general look of the place was okay but felt like it had last been updated in the 70s and was less than exciting to look at but it wasn’t bad. The toilets in side the rooms were gross and looked like they’d been in use for decades having yellow stains on the seats from how old they are and they constantly smell of stale urine!! The baths are small but good enough and the showers need updating as the heads are clogged with limescale and mold which I had to clear myself with a pin just to have a semi decent shower. The TV in the room may as well not work as it’s an extremely old one from what I’d assume is the early 80s and is the same tv I had as a child passed down from my parents, the tv constantly gives off a high pitched “eeeeeeee” sound which has hurt my ears every time I thought to use it and instantly regretted it after, the button to switch it off/on was also broken and stuck in its socket unable to be pushed or freed which was annoying and also led to me being shocked by the mains from the plug when I had to unplug it every time I used it, the hairdryer is old but does the job well enough.
3- the service here (bars and the restaurants/ buffet) was mostly good with some minor hiccups mostly being staff either not understanding what we were saying or just drinks being mixed wrong with too much alcohol being there without enough mixer to offset the taste but that’s not a massive issue, what was a huge issue however was the lack of hygiene in the kitchen of the buffet and the food all either being stone cold because they just left it out in open air for too long with free access to flies and other pests to get in to it or food being over cooked or undercooked with the worst offender being pork which unless it was in small chunks was always undercooked and was very pink all the way through and in some cases was still bloody when cut into which on one occasion made me fall ill as I had eaten raw pork and only realised when I had swallowed as I looked at the meat for another bite to find it wasn’t juicy because it was well cooked but instead it was red and bloody!!!! The fish that they cooked while mostly nice was also over cooked and left out to go cold this is the same for the octopus and squid they served twice while I was here although that was still plenty tasty, some of the fish had very obvious bones poking through them and hadn’t had them properly taken out before being served and I’m talking about fillets of fish and not the whole fish they would serve on occasion where obviously they aren’t going to take the bones out. The bars were nice enough if not a bit of an eyesore to look at, the staff within them were nice enough and some spoke a little English but you’ll come to find most either speak they’re native tongue mixed with English or extremely broken English and will most the time mix drinks wrong with either not enough or too much alcohol or will give you the wrong drink entirely. On our first day the gave us the wrong rooms as we were supposed to be together as a family (we went with my partners family) but instead we were half the complex away from each other and they made us pack everything up the next day and made us move to our actual booked rooms and gave us free access to a pool and water park that we had access to anyway so the compensation for the issue was lacklustre.
Conclusion- do I recommend this hotel to anyone who is considering visiting the island of kos? No I wouldn’t unless you’re only here for the stunning views you get from the various beautiful beaches that are here and don’t mind a budget hotel that claims to be a lot more high class than it truly is however the island itself is beautiful and the views are great and the city is great if you know what to avoid there.
