Sandy beaches
Altinkum translates as ‘golden sands’ and the name is an apt one. The waters here are clear and stay shallow for a couple of hundred metres, making them great for little paddlers. And there are bars and restaurants overlooking the sea so there's no shortage of lunch options.
Heaps of history
This part of Turkey is home to several important historical sites. Not far away, you’ve got the Temple of Apollo, which dates back to 300 BC. And slightly further along, but well worth the 90-minute trip, there’s Ephesus, home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
