Sands Beach Resort

What can I say? Had a 9 day family holiday here and it was lovely. I would like to say brilliant but there were just too many little details that took away from the experience. Firstly we arrived very late and only one staff member at the check in desk who gave us a site map that he drew a line to follow to get to our accommodation. The place is like a maze but we were lucky enough to meet a gentleman guest that showed us the way to our apartments. We were a party of 7, 4 adults, 2 children and a baby and needed to get the kids to bed and baby fed. The rooms we were allocated were in the plaza next to the sports training pool which meant we had to pack our pool gear and wander around the site to find a pool that we could use together which we never got to do as the residents in the plazas next to the pools had taken the sun loungers. Pools were great when we got to use them though. The on site bar wasn’t open for the whole of our stay, we didn’t mind having a walk but with a baby we would have liked to have been able to stay on resort rather than walking/taking taxis out ever day and night to find somewhere to sit and relax. The complex is right at the edge of Costa Teguise which made it a long walk that is okay during the daytime but not very convenient at night. Taxis were cheap to use but transporting a baby is complicated and 2 taxis out then back becomes costly. I would stay here again if all the amenities were available but our experience of being badly located on resort and the location of the complex, too far from the main area, just tainted the whole holiday.

On Arrival we were advised our room was not ready, not allocated until 16:00 ,Nice room unfortunately we were put on the playa Verde plaza,which is okay if you're an Olympic swimmer, however we were able to use the other plazas , unfortunately the sun beds needed replacing as they are very worn,also the soleil bar was no longer a bar with no entertainment, Sands beach is in a good location,but could do with a good upgrade...

Perfectly positioned for what we wanted, very well laid out resort hotel with good faciities on site. Our apartment was showing end of season wear but quite acceptable. the busier part of Teguise was within walking distance with a full range of bars and restaurents. Yep, a good winter break.

We had a great time when we went to the Sands Beach Resort. The accommodation was amazing! Big and spacious. There was a pool in each area. We were by the children's part, which was great because of my boys. We went for breakfast a couple of times and it was delicious! It had such a wide range and variety. We would definitely go here again. My parents were staying at another hotel close by and when they came to my hotel they were impressed and a looking to book here for their annual trip to Lanzrote .

I booked a “Superior One Bedroom Beachfront Apartment “ and this must be a new interpretation of the word ‘superior’, tatty, tired with broken furniture and fittings. The measure of a hotel and their perception of theirs guests needs lies in their beds and pillows - ours was uncomfortable and the pillows old and flat. Lanzarote is very hot and windy and as there is no air conditioning the patio doors have to be left open ‘everything’ gets covered in dust from the Sahara- cleaners mopped the floor daily but we mopped it three or four times a day and had to damp dust all surfaces a couple of times a days yet feet always felt dirty, nasty when getting into bed. Place needs air conditioning!!!! Staff work very hard and are friendly if you are OK with them. Went half board and foot is plentiful if a little repetitive. The hotel beach is manmade although it is connected to the sea so is slightly tidal - Sand is very fine and underwater feels sludgy and unpleasant so adults don’t go into the water. Complex is centred around several pools and designed so that you use your chalet as base for food and toilet - if you go to a pool away from your chalet there is no toilet or refreshments available. Main restaurant open morning and evening and other food/drinks only available at pool bar on beach(expensive) and bar at reception- which is good walk from accommodation. MAIN ISSUE - if you are body conscious this is not the site for you- this complex is all about triathlons, running and cycling it is obvious that their main business object is triathletes and holiday makers are welcomed to make up shortfalls in room occupancy . So there are an awful lot of very toned people strutting their stuff. Catering staff go into overdrive to set the tables arranged for the organised sports events and holiday makers often feel as though the are somewhat ‘second rate’. Hotel shop is well stocked but expensive but there is a cheap eatery just opposite reception that does breakfasts etc. The place looks fabulous and to sit and look at the place is a joy and the pools are great - for self catering at the right price it would be OK. However for me it was ‘All fur coat and no drawers’ - I have photos of broken furniture and one bored afternoon found that many of the marks that I thought were stains were actually dirty marks that could, and were, removed by elbow grease. I would not go back but my daughter would!!

Had an absolute fantastic holiday. Everything was perfect for us. Our accommodation was perfec. Nice and clean which was cleaned daily. Each section had its own pool area, which we loved, not crowded at any time. A brisk and nice 10 minute walk to town for bars and restaurants. All jet2 staff are brilliant. Only fault got to pay for room safe, does any hotel really do that now? But other than that...perfect.

Beautiful place. Ideal location. Great pools. Fab places to eat nearby Disappointed that we paid extra for beach front.... which was lovely but when we went to other pools theres no umbrellas If u choose poolside u get an umbrella at your room and all rooms so close to pools

Decent accommodation for the money paid. Pool wasn't as cold as previous reviews suggested. Would recommend if you have a young family. Plenty of room around the pool, nowhere near as cramped as some pool areas Only downside was the 20/25minute walk into the centre of the resort.

Slightly disappointed. Our Beachfront Apartment was comfortable enough despite not having any Aircon. The temperatures weren't too high, so not a problem. We were self catering so won't comment on the catering. The biggest disappointment was the actives. Aqua Gym was held in the Olympic Pool, but that has a requirement for people to wear a swimming hat. Some were on sale at €8, so we didn't participate. I attended one running activity which I enjoyed, but I was disappointed that noone showed up for the Friday evening Volcano Run. Seemed half hearted.
