Mellieħa Bay
Overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean, Mellieħa Bay’s a winner when it comes to a relaxing beach holiday in Malta. The laid-back bar scene and sandy shore here are perfect if you’re after a fly and flop getaway, but it’s a great base for exploring too. You can easily catch the ferry across to Comino to discover the mesmerising Blue Lagoon and Gozo to see its quaint capital, Victoria. Holidaying with little ones? Fun-filled Popeye Village is close by too.

A crescent of sand
Mellieha Bay’s claim to fame is its wide, flat beach – it’s one of the only sandy stretches on Malta, and certainly the longest. It spools along the coast for nearly a kilometre, lined by beach bars and little souvenir shops. Above it all there’s the hilltop town, with fabulous views across the water.
The charming old town
A 20-minute walk from the beach brings you to a tangled web of narrow streets that make up the resort. Enjoy lazy lunches in its quaint restaurants and cafés, browse the gift shops, or explore the incredible 18th century Baroque church that towers over the bay.
A trip back in time
Spend days away from the beach exploring Malta’s intriguing history – there are crusades-era fortresses and palatial buildings in the capital, Valletta, 40 minutes away by car. Or head to the mysterious, UNESCO-protected Ta' Ħaġrat temples. At the grand age of 5,600 years, they’re one of the oldest man-made structures in the world!

Luna complex

Hotel was ok in public areas clean etc. We booked a large Studio it was very basic and bathroom was very tatty. Towel changing was very intermittent. Rooftop pool was supposed to be adults only o er 17 buy especially at the weekend loads of underage kids drinking unchallenged. They seemed to be from outside the hotel grabbed all the beds and hung in the jacuzzi smoking and drinking. Obviously nowhere near 17 .Disappointed with the service too in the rooftop bar the reception bar was great very good service .The room was also facing inland not whst we thought we'd booked and the traffic noise was bad from early on

No so good
10 May 2022
The room was fine, but my wife was not happy with the glass fronted balcony nor the depth with only space for one person. The oven is in dangerous place and could easily be pulled down on top of the user. The chairs in the apartment were at best garden chairs. Very little in the way of utensils for cooking. This was a self-catering apartment with minimal facilities and no instructions on how to use any of the appliances.

A week in Mellieha- Luna apartments
07 Aug 2019
First time in Malta with my teenage daughter. We stayed at the Luna apartments in Mellieha for a week. The superior studio apartment was basic but if you can be creative with two hotplates then ithe kitchen is adequate. Both of us have specific dietary needs so self-catering is a necessity so I can't make any comment on the food provided at Luna. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were cleaned every other day which was absolutely fine. Cleaning staff were lovely- always working so hard and ready to smile and say hello. Reception staff less friendly.
The roof top pool is of course the big draw but get there early to grab a sunbed. The pool itself is pretty small so if you really want to swim (which I did) you need to try and get there before the 9am rush. There are rules around the pool advertised which included no smoking but there was a constant haze of nicotine which even though it was open air I found bothersome and non of the staff made any comment about this. Children aren't supposed to be there, but again this rule wasn't always observed. The small market was OK - depends on what you like to eat and there were some gluten free foods available although you might- as most items were 2-3 times more expensive than in the UK want to think about bringing some essentials with you. Mellieha square- about a twenty minute walk up a pretty steep hill - is quite pretty but otherwise nothing apart form the church to see.
Get the bus to Valletta, Mdina (two bus trips) and the ferry over to Gozo. Really beautiful places with wonderful architecture, cafes and shops.

Pleasant, spacious studio in a building well located for access to the beach on the bay, local bus services and a good choice of restaurants, some of which were outstanding. Luna breakfast was good value with a wide choice of hot and cold foods and beverages. The roof top pool was very welcome on those hot days!

Very nice hotel, Worth going for superior rooms as slightly better. Very clean and breakfast was really good Will go again.Found staff very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of sunbeds and nice that people not allowed to leave towels on all day. No need to anyway.

If you are looking for quiet holiday with basic requirements this is for you.
13 Oct 2017
The hotel is at the bottom of a steep hill and the town is at the top. There are a few restaurants and bars near the hotel and a regular bus service up the hill and to other parts of malta. The accomodation is adequate but basic. The pool area is clean but the roof pool is not really suitable for children and the hotel doesnt seem to have any entertainment for children and neither does there seem to be anything in the town near by accept for a beach. It is very good for a quiet holiday but not for people with walking difficulties.
