Ialyssos
A short drive from Rhodes Town, this gorgeous Greek locale is waiting to be uncovered, and it’s joyfully nestled on the edge of a sprawling sand and shingle beach. Spend your mornings lounging by the shore, and afternoons strolling around the centre – it’s filled with mini-markets and restaurants serving olive oil-drizzled dishes. Evenings are all about the sunsets.
In Ialyssos, everything revolves around the beach. It’s a long, flat stretch of sand mixed with shingle, and it’s a serious hit with windsurfers as well as laid-back sun-seekers. In the background, a cluster of traditional Greek tavernas rub shoulders with the many chic bars and modern restaurants.
History in Rhodes Town
Ialyssos is just a ten-minute drive from Rhodes Town, one of the world’s most impressively preserved medieval cities. Inside its walls, you can follow the footsteps of the Knights Templar at the Palace of the Grand Master, or tuck into some tasty cuisine in one of the smart cafés around the harbour.

Hotel building is definitely 5 star but is let down by insufficient staff in the restaurant & bars. Was an all inclusive holiday but you had to work hard to get a drink! Music around the pool was just awful. We avoided it and headed for the beach. Spa is overpriced for the service provided. Booked a twin room & was given a double & would have been left there if up to the staff on duty. Eventually got moved to a twin room with views over the kitchen, very noisy. Got moved to a pool view twin room on the 4th day which was what we had booked but the music was pounding all day long. It seems that the hotel can’t decide who it is trying to attract- families, couples or party goers! Shuttle service to Rhodes town is good. Food overall is average. Bit disappointing.

Very beautiful hotel with great facilities and great staff
25 Jun 2019
Probably the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. Both the inside and outside are stunning, very clean and well maintained. There is a great selection of food if you are all inclusive; we were not overly impressed with the buffet resteraunt ('Cusines of the World') but were very pleased with the Italian, Greek, French and Asian food places! We particularly enjoyed an evening meal at the Asian resteraunt 'Orientalista', with delicious sushi and other dishes, and also the French patisserie 'the Sugar Cube' which did an excellend late breakfast with things like crepes. The staff are all extremely attentive and friendly and made the holiday a really great experience. The spa is also wonderful, with very friendly staff and a good range of treatments on offer. You get a free 15 minute treatment included with your stay which was brilliant! The hotel is very close to the airport so you have several planes flying very low over the hotel but you get used to it so it isn't really an issue. The area immediately surrounding the hotel doesn't have much but if you come to the beach and turn left and walk for a while there are lots od shops and food places. The hotel also runs a shuttle bus to Rhodes town for €7 return which we thought was very good and very easy to use. The hotel was not too busy when we first arrived but much busier on our last few days making it very difficult to find somewhere to sit outside. There were a few children however not too many which was good as I am not overly keen on children. The only issue is the hotel staff do not stop children when they are doing something to annoy other guests, like when a child was snorkeling in the whirl pool or when they were screaming and throwing things in one of the resteraunts. The entertainment isn't great and you are unlikely to get a seat anyway.
My only advice to others would be don't just stick the the buffet, try all the other food places for breakfast, lunch and evening meal as they are much better; if you want a spa treatment wait until after your free 15 minutes treatment as they give you a voucher that significantly reduces the prices of treatments (I was not willing to pay €75 for a facial but €50 ish was much more reasonable); and be careful if you are not all inclusive as the bar and food prices looked quite expensive for half board guests. Also the wifi was not available in our room so we had to use data on our phones.

Visited here on 1st June for 7 nights. Very nice hotel, spotless inside and out, great choice of food and drink and the Sugar Cube is awesome.! Great facilities in and around, plenty shops and bars a 10 minute walk over the beach past Pattys bar in Lalyssos. Big mention for all the staff in the Electra Palace, they are fantastic and can't do enough for you. Konstantina we nicknamed Supergirl as it seems she's always there and seems to be in every bar and restaurant on site at the same.!! Only negative would be evening entertainment needs to be more frequent but there's other things to do outside the hotel if preferred. Rhodes old town is a great visit too, taxi costs around 19 euros there and 14 back.?? But definitely worth a look. Hotel is on aircraft approach path but after a day or 2 you don't even notice it anymore. Would return tomorrow if I could.

Just returned from a weeks holiday here. Absolutely beautiful hotel and location. Staff very helpful. Food was one 10/10. Being a very fussy eater I always struggle to find something I like each evening but here I never struggled.

The hotel has a very nice frontage and lovely reception, the reception staff were pleasant and welcoming. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean by a multitude of cleaning staff and grounds people always working. Our room had a partial pool and sea view which was very nice, however it was just as well we were travelling with the people in the next room as our balconies offered no privacy between rooms. I noticed that in the main block that that didn't seem to be a problem. the room was modern but could do with a few more coat hangers and the hair drier although functional is not the best and burnt my hand if used for more than a couple of minutes. we did not use the minibar or room service so can not comment regarding those.the location of the hotel is perfect (once we found the shortcut to the local tavernas and shops!) The pool and grounds are very attractive and the available sunbeds are very comfortable, I do think that there could be a struggle to find beds in the height of summer though and we did have to get up early to nab a decent spot!our only complaint about the whole of the hotel is that there are a number of waiting staff in the restaurant that were constantly miserable and although not exactly rude could definitely do with putting a smile on their face, this does not include the front of restaurant ladies who more than made up for the lack of smiles from the other staff.

This was a great experience from start to finish. Great transfer times. Only 15 mins from the airport. The hotel is spotlessly clean and recently completely refurbished. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing. There is a great choice. Fabulous facilities. Good size pool. Plenty of sun beds by the pools and on the beach. GreAt bars. A fabulous hotel. I would definitely return to this resort again.

We travelled in July for two weeks as two families with three teenagers ranging from 14 to 17. We stayed all inclusive within upgraded family suites.
Firstly the positives:
The hotel was lovely and clean, the service from all staff we dealt with was excellent. It appears the hotel has added additional dining options including a Greek restaurant, Italian restaurant and a "sugar shak" offering lovely coffees, crepes, waffles and ice creams etc.
We used these restaurant for most lunches, and it was great to be served at your table as opposed to buffet style.
The choice in the buffet restaurant was ok, but did get a bit repetitive, we found it nicer at lunch time than in the evening.
Entertainment during the day was mostly down to Mikey, who did his best to involve people round the pool without being over powering. Does a good job in limited circumstances.
The entertainment at night was not great, although there was a band playing on the Saturday evenings who were good.
We stayed mostly by the pool and there was no issues with sun beds as there was plenty, even although the hotel appeared to be full. The decked area at the beach, along with an excellent bar area and seated area was lovely, with the view at sunset stunning.
We also visited the Rainbow Bar (10 yards from the hotel) most days for a few extra drinks and the sports channels. The hosts there were extremely friendly.
A quick ten minute walk past Patty's bar at the beach led to a range of nice shops, bars and eateries, and a good break from the hotel.
My only real gripe was the facilities for the teenagers. There was a "teenagers club" which only had an old PS3 and Xbox together with a TV. (Hardly likely to encourage teenagers in). I only saw one family in the club and their kids were no more than 10. There was no area with a pool table(s), air hockey, table tennis etc. The table tennis table in the hotel sits out on the grass and benefits from the breeze/wind that the area enjoys every day (not ideal and not really thought through) The older kids were able to join in with the adult entertainment at the pool, but surely more could be made available for them.
Overall: A beautiful hotel, great staff who work long hours, lovely breeze to cool the hot hot weather and only a short distance by taxi or bus to Rhodes town which is steeped in tradition and well worth a few visits. Just need to think of the youngsters more!!
