Fodele Beach and Waterpark Holiday Resort

I don’t usually leave reviews (even though I read them!) but the hotel was so good I am this time. The hotel was in a great location and the mix of pools, slides and beach was perfect for me and my young family (8,10,12). Food was also great and didn’t queue once. What really made it was the staff, all friendly and helpful. Don’t look any further.

A superb hotel on the beach front, we stayed all inclusive with our girls. Absolutely fantastic quality of food and dining experiences. Plenty of space, pools, entertainment, water sports. We loved it!

Staff at this hotel couldn’t do enough. They were friendly and helpful. The food was very good and you could get something to eat anytime during the day along with Ice cream much to my granddaughter’s delight. Booked two of the specialty restaurants the Italian was very nice but the Greek one was disappointing as the portions were so small we had to go to the main restaurant to eat again. There were no glasses of wine offered on the AI at the speciality restaurants so we had to purchase a bottle. We didn’t think the drinks package was all that. Firstly the AI finished at 11pm which I hadn’t noticed when I booked. You couldn’t have a cocktail until after 5 and they came out of ready made cartons, weren’t great and the choice of cocktails was limited. We had a family suite which was really nice with 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms and very tastefully decorated. We were quite far up the hill so took full advantage of the little train than ran up and down picking up and dropping off from 10am until 6pm. All in all it was nice to get away after having no holidays for the past couple of years

The hotel was superb and the staff were absolutely awesome. Pools are great albeit the usual scrap for sunbeds is a certainty. The slides are great for the kids. The beach was ok - very rocky getting in the sea so take shoes for that! Beach towels are provided too. The hillside location didn't affect us. Train was regular to shuttle you to your room and if you're lucky out of hours, a friendly chap will shuttle you on a golf cart. The only criticisms we had were the lack of bar staff on an evening made it very time consuming getting a drink and the waiting time in the Italian restaurant was ridiculous - 45 minutes before we saw menus, an hour and 3 requests for drinks and a total of 2hrs in there without even seeing the dessert menu. Food on the whole was excellent. Loads of choice even for our 3 year old son who must have had ice cream 3 times a day! We'd definitely go again if the price stays around the same as we paid this year.

We have just returned from Fodele Beach where we enjoyed a week's break with our 12 year old daughter. The hotel is impressive, staff are friendly and it is very clean and well maintained throughout. We stayed in room 139 which had a spectacular view over the beach and mountains. The food choice was fairly decent but a little more variety, especially with more traditional greek dishes on offer would be great. The drinks options are also good for both soft and alcoholic drinks, but again a few more options for wine would be better. There is the option of the two a la carte restaurants which is a nice change midweek. Entertainment wise there were lots of options for guests travelling with other travel agencies such as TUI and there were activities for over 14s but our daughter largely made her own entertainment as there didnt seem to be much on offer for her. However the water park was a sure favourite with her and her friends, and this facility was well ran by the hotel. Overall a good holiday and we were able to relax for the entirety of our stay. The hotel is fairly isolated in terms of location but you can easily hop onto the bus that runs along the nearby highway, which was a little daunting at first but we enjoyed a day out in Heraklion for less than 20 euros! There are other options to visit by bus in addition to the usual excursions run by the holiday companies and so you can enjoy the best of both worlds here.

Nice hotel, very friendly staff in all hotel.I would not recommend it to people with walking difficulties. Amazing trio in main bar with the beautiful girl from Athens and two crazy barmans next to her. All the best from two tattooed Polish dudes.
