Totally relaxing holiday as there's is nothing much to do on island although there is entertainment every night at hotel. Be prepared for expense of eating out, on average £30 for bottle of wine. That being said, all meals were excellent especially fish.

Hotel let down by lack of communication and appropriate response when problems encountered ( eg air conditioning not working ). Food normally very good but very limited menu and same CD as background music every night. Impression given that guest comfort was not a priority in comparison to making money. Entertainment staff were excellent-very friendly and helpful-was a pleasure to meet them and join the walking tours.

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this hotel. It is a truly lovely building, nice modern rooms, spotlessly clean, well kept gardens, pools and public rooms. I'm afraid the ambient and well appointed restaurant, is sadly let down by the quality and lack of variety in food. We had booked half board, but by the third night, couldn't stomach another evening meal in the hotel, so ate out. Having been a hotel receptionist myself, I feel that the reception staff need some training. You can be efficient, without making people feel that they are checking into Alcatraz! Same applies to some of the restaurant staff. Hey guys, we too have to work 50 weeks of the year, it's your job to make us feel that we are on holiday! The hotel has a small private beach, sadly, this is not monitored and we found that day trippers came on to the beach, layed their beach towels out in front of our sun beds, so we had to pick our way around them, in order to get into the sea. Not good enough, especially as we had to paid for the sun beds and umbrellas. This could be an amazing hotel, on a beautiful unspoilt Island, but so sadly lacking in atmosphere or leadership of any kind. Despite this, we had a lovely holiday in Croatia with our family.

A beautiful location with excellent facilities and friendly helpful staff particularly the staff in the scarlet restaurant . Food choices for half board were excellent. Perfect place to relax and switch off.

Many people on holiday around us had complaints about food in particular ...and other things. Each time we passed the front desk someone was complaining. Policy seems to satisfy customers fighting fires not correcting the policy process that led to the complaints in the first place. Chronically poor management and policy decisions.

This is a nice hotel, some of the staff are more helpful and friendly than others, and the views are stunning. Reception need to understand that when someone approaches the desk they should stop what they are doing and attend to whatever they need. I had to make them aware on more than one occasion that I was stood in front of them. Food in the hotel is OK; breakfast buffet is a little poor for what I would expect from a 4* hotel, and don’t whatever you do ask for coffee if the clock said 10am. We had dinner at the Dalmar restaurant at the hotel one evening and couldn't understand why it was so quiet - the food was delicious and well-priced. The pool area occasionally wasn’t tidy people had left glasses and plates around and they had not been moved. The view from the room was very nice the gardens are well kept. Wine in the mini bar but no glasses I had to ask at the bar to take one to the room and was asked to take it back as each bar had an amount of glasses and once it was in the room they wouldn’t know which bar it came from. Not my problem there should be wine glasses in the room. The island of Lopud and this coastline is beautiful. The Obala restaurant in town was very nice and the view of the sunset was heaven!

The Lafodia, what can I say, the best holiday location and service we have ever had on a package holiday. I can't recommend it highly enough. The restaurant staff in particular (Milan, Branka & Martina) ensured that the days started and ended with excellent food and warm, friendly service. Never used a spa before but would not hesitate to say that this is one treat well worth the money, try the massage it is sooooo relaxing

No traffic, very few children, no hustle or bustle, no time share menaces. Just a beautiful island, friendly people a few bars, cafes & restaurants and plenty of peace and opportunities to rest and recharge. The hotel is modern, spacious and very clean with really excellent staff and facilities. We took a 6th floor,junior suite on the west wing with twin balconies and sea views. It was roomy enough with a good sized bathroom and most things were provided including slippers & dressing gowns. Couldn't have asked for much more in all honesty. We took the half board option and used the Scarlet restaurant most evenings. This is probably the weakest part of the hotel, in that whilst the quality & quantity were not under question, the change of menu that we expected in the second week didn't happen so the choice became a bit boring. The first course was excellent ( a self serve type salad bar) followed by two hot menu courses followed by a self serve cake option. Wine was a little on the pricey side, but generally wine was expensive to buy in the local super markets so no surprise there. Beer was comparable with other local bars. The second floor pool and area is really great with wonderful vistas over the main part of the island and the other islands on the horizon. Very well laid out area with a decent pool and beds with a well serviced bar and protected by the East and West wing buildings if the wind does get up. Sunshine from mid morning to very late afternoon. The private beach is gravel rather than sand, very well laid out with a beach front deck and terraces, a pool bar and restaurant and iy's own lading area where several small boats, launches, yacht and water taxi frequently moor. The sunbeds are chargeable for the first two rows only but they do provide cushions if you do pay. Otherwise the other rows are fine without cushions - all have sun canopies. Staff are attentive and professional. Arrival is a little different at the hotel given that there are no cars on the island. We arrived at Dubrovnik, greeted by the Jet2 rep and a small party was mini-bused to a small village 45 mins away where a water taxi was waiting to ferry us to the island. Sounds romantic etc., but it was lashing down when we arrived and it was an "interesting" trip across a choppy Adriatic to Lopud island. Overall, a great hotel, good food, despite the limited menu choices, great staff and a wonderful little island that is not commercial destroyed.
