Cavtat
Cavtat, the dreamy harbour town, is conveniently placed for getting around Croatia’s Adriatic coast. The views from this breathtaking town make superb postcard scenes, and historic churches provide a seriously striking backdrop. Be sure to stop by the Old Town for a peek into Cavtat’s past.
Cavtat’s sleepy coastline is a mix of quaint little cafés and pebble beaches. It sits right in the middle of a horseshoe-shaped bay, making the warm swills of the water especially calm for swimming. It’s all linked together by a charming coastal path, which runs through pine woods.
A trip back in time
The town was built in the Middle Ages, on the site of a Roman city. Have a coffee in the town square, and take in 15th-century architecture and Baroque church. Plus you’re just 40 minutes by boat from the fairytale city of Dubrovnik.
Lots of island-hopping
This corner of Croatia is blessed with hundreds of islands. Lokrum, just a boat ride away from Dubrovnik, is a real treat – the Emperor of Mexico once used it as a holiday home, and it’s still inhabited by his peacocks! Think peaceful forests and gorgeous lakes as well as a Benedictine monastery.
Pebbly Cavtat Beach has the best of both worlds. Not only is it in a prime location in the centre of Tiha Bay, it’s bagged a tranquil spot, thanks to a leafy green border that protects it from the bustling...
This Renaissance masterpiece was built in the 15th century and remains one of the area's most beautiful buildings. Enter the side chapel for a look at the polyptych of St Michael, a famous work by Vicko Lovrin...
The stone-white promenade runs along the ocean front from the harbour. Along it are a selection of small shops that sell souvenirs and local specialities. You'll find some vendors selling silk Konavle...
We arrived at the hotel and had to wait for our room to be ready. We had upgraded to all inclusive and whilst waiting for our room we had lunch which was very nice. After this meal it seemed to go downhill from then onwards. Everyday lunch and dinner was virtually the same chicken thighs, pork or fish. The chef was cooking daily but no roast meats just chicken, turkey or beef burgers. The soft drinks were flat so even a gin and tonic was not enjoyable. The towels were changed daily but our bin in the bedroom area and a metal lid and was dusty. We wrote clean me in the dust and on the twelfth day when we checked out it still had not been cleaned. In the bathroom we moved the complimentary shower caps and you could see the bathroom sink area had not been cleaned properly. We ended up going out for 5 meals out of the 11 night stay to get an enjoyable meal instead of processed burgers. Location was brilliant but very disappointing service.

Good stay at the Albatross
11 Jul 2024
This was our first time in Cavtat and we were very happy with the resort and the hotel Albatross.
The hotel was in a good location for us, being a 15 minute pleasant walk into the centre of Cavtat and a few yards from the stoney beach. The hotel is very spacious and there are plenty of lovely views from huge windows. The swimming pools and pool area are very good. Unfortunately still suffering from people putting towels on beds then leaving them unoccupied.
The staff are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are ok, we had a side sea view but the view from the small balcony, was not as good as we had expected. Food overall ok, we had half board. The breakfasts were very good. Sometimes evening meals not so good but there was always something you could eat. The salads were excellent as was the selection of bread. We didn’t go all inclusive and we were glad about that as we heard many complaints about the quality of the all inclusive drinks. The activities team were very good, much better than we have been used to.
We would recommend the hotel Albatross .

Clean and fine for the price paid.
15 Jun 2024
Do not book this hotel and expect any frills, what you will get is a clean property with hard working restaurant staff and attentive reception staff. The rooms are fine, good size, clean and with a balcony. Now this is the strange part about accessing your room, if your placed in block B you will have to carry your luggage up a short set of stairs before accessing the lift, never in any other hotel have we seen this and on more than one occasion we had to help some guests carry the luggage up or down for them as there are no staff on hand to do so. Also, we were walking around the corridors in the dark for the first 2 nights, until I found a light switch to turn on the corridor lights, bizarre. As mentioned, we were in block B a superior sea view room, we had a good view of the mountains and the sea to our left-hand side from the rather small (but functioning) balcony, it had 2 good chairs and a large table with the sun in the morning (block A has sun all afternoon) not bad. We paid a small extra charge for all inclusive, now this is not like any other A I hotel, you will not get a bottle of wine with dinner, nor will you receive any sort of premium drinks. Drinks are self-service in the restaurant, red, white and rose wine on tap, the rose being the better of the bunch, lager on tap, a local brand which after a few mouthfuls became bearable. Soft drinks, coke, orange etc on pump too, not good at all, tastes a little flat mostly. Drinks in the bar are served (if you can find the barman in the afternoon) for you and are the same as in the restaurant, not a lot of cocktail choices and very weak as they were pre-made, unless you pay for them. Also, if you like non-alcoholic lager in bottles it is not part of the A I package. All drinks are payable after 11pm which we found strange, cash or card, you cannot have drinks put onto your room key, strange too. Food. If you like burnt bacon ends and what looks like a chilli con carne masquerading as baked beans you will enjoy the breakfasts, sausages not much better, good scrambled/fried eggs and salads. Lunch and dinner much better, although we had to use the microwave twice to heat the food. pool bar adequate, snacks poor as well as the cakes. location good, nice walk to Cavtat, few bars across the road. All in all, if the price was good, we would stay again but ask for block A.

Lovely Place, great hotel
19 Sep 2022
We flew to Dubrovnik airport and it wasn’t too far to Herceg Novi however we had an hour or so wait at the border.
When we arrived at the hotel reception it was just a building on its own and we initially wondered were everything was . The hotel is like a little mini village all on its own built on the hillside with everything spread out. There are lots of steps and a bank up and down to and from the beach but after a couple of day we just got used to it .
The pool area was lovely, no fighting for sunbeds or getting up at silly times to get one . Sunbeds were included on the beach too which was all part of the hotel . Lots of sun terraces too by the beach .
The food was fabulous, gorgeous freshly made fruit juices each morning and each meal time had a special counter doing different things like special desserts or tapas . Thursday night the chefs make an enormous baked Alaska and take it round with sparklers in.
The hotel is on its own and you can’t really walk out to the shop as nothing nearby but there’s a taxi boat over to Herceg Novi town which runs till 10 pm and only 5 euros and takes 15 mins so it was no problem at all .
Plenty of boat trips available to other places
The animation team were fabulous plenty going on day and night .
Montenegro is such a gorgeous country , lovely and green and mountainous, beautiful scenery and the old town of Herceg Novi is lovely and historic .
One of the nicest places we have been and will definitely be back.

Beautiful surroundings
09 Aug 2022
We spent a week at the Hotel Albatross in Cavtat and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The hotel was clean and large, staff were friendly and the restaurant and common areas for hotel guess well kept. The pool and area was lovely and big enough for all guess, being a short walk to the beach there were a number of choices of places to relax. The only down side of the pool area was the early morning marking out of sun beds by guests which reserved beds until they returned later on in the day, I think the hotel should’ve been a little more strict around this so that all guests could enjoy the poolside area. Food was nice and plentiful with a good selection for all meals, the snacks particularly popular.
A short walk into Cavtat itself and beautiful surroundings made this hotel perfect for guests especially with the boat to Dubrovnik just outside the hotel gates. I would highly recommend the hotel and definitely revisit

My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful time at the Albratros. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much for them. The hotel clean and the food was amazing. We had one of our best holidays in Croatia. Beautiful walks along the coast and vibrate atmosphere in Cavtat's main area.

Across the bay

Croatia is a beautiful country to visit. Very green and hilly, obviously wet from time to time😎
We had a morning flight and at our hotel just before lunch. Upon arrival we were informed that our room wouldn’t be available until after 2pm. So all inclusive banded and went for lunch!
First impressions of the hotel was light and airy reflected the terrain and had a theme of albatross flying throughout.
The dinning room was downstairs with no direct lift access, however discovered if you got the lift to the spa and walked across the garden led to the restaurant. Ok when dry but a bit treacherous when eat... I had a bit of a problem with my knees so was less mobile than usual.
Food in the restaurant and pool bar was lovely, a lot of local cuisine and something for everyone.. self service and on the evening drinks were served at your table. Staff were very attentive.
The restaurant had direct access to the pool and the pool bar served delicious cooked to order burgers in the afternoon.. yum
The outside pools were fresh and spotlessly clean, indoor I was told was cool too! Towels available.
From the pool area access to local prom and pebbled beach, oh and ferry landing to Dubrovnik which was across the bay. Never got to the town or marina of Cavtat as it was about 15mins walk and couldn’t do it this time!
Rooms are light and airy and have mobiles of albatross. We paid for a sea view and we’re on the 4th floor. Well laid out, comfy beds and a amazing shower. Fridge and safe free of charge. Tv and kettle ( no cups or supplies though) cleaned daily and frequent towel and sheet changes throughout our 10 day stay. It was early in the season so animation were finding their feet. Good sports facilities and obvious a club for tennis enthusiasts. Weather was mixed and indoor games were organised for wet days.
Go on the ferry to Dubrovnik well worth a visit, we went on the full day fortresses, wine and seafood trip... brill value and good on a rainy day!
Lovely hotel, location and country would return someday 😎

Great hotel, good & varied food, friendly staff, comfy bed, good daytime activity's, the pool aerobics were great, but a bit noisy if you didn't want to participate, The location was ok if you didn't mind a 10 min walk to the center, the ferry to Dubrovnic was almost outside the hotel which was great.

Best Location in Cavtat.
21 Sep 2018
This was our 4th stay at the Albatross. We love the area, the places we can visit and the location of the Hotel. We always try to book a sea view as It's just beautiful. Meals are buffet style, and it is a little chaotic at times but that's the way with buffet meals. The Hotel is lovely and clean and rooms have recently been renovated. The entertainment team work very hard and and there is plenty for Adults and Children. Only a couple of complaints, there wasn't enough parasol for the amount of sun beds, and unless you are fully inclusive it wasn't possible to buy anything at lunchtime. You were told that there would be food available after 2'oclock, but all there was were burgers. However we still like the Albatross and would go back.
