Occidental Jandia Playa

Cracked tiles in the pool and surrounding areas. No entertainment at all for all of our 11 night stay. Cockroaches crawling out of the woodwork near the kitchen area. Same meals over and over again. Would not recommend this hotel. Jet2 were amazing at both airports as my wife is in a wheelchair and cannot praise them enough for the help they gave us.

Enjoyed our stay here and would probably stay again. The food was great some days and ok on others. Pool-sode alcoholic drinks were poor quality and sometimes unavailable. Slushies and non-alcoholic drinks were great. Real Coke and other drinks on tap in the dining room, which was good. On a hill so a fair bit of walking involved but not an issue for us. Good access to beach and main road to Morr Jable out thr back gate. Rooms are big and decent - not amazing - but nothing really wrong with them.

We booked this holiday as a bit of winter sun and relaxation. The hotel was modern and the communal areas were clean although they’re were several ongoing repairs going on from ceiling leaks. The room was nice and spacious and daily serviced. No one cleaned under the bed all week and it became a daily activity to see if the face mask that was there when we checked was still there when we left - it still was! The food was delicious with a wide range of choices. The dining staff were efficient but no banter or familiarity. On arrival we had to work out why we were aggressively shouted at like children for taking drinks from the bar into the dining room. There was no explanation just a lot of finger wagging in our face. The seating arrangement to allow socially distancing was also not explained - worked out by trial and error. The snack bar that should have provided food between 10.30am and lunch (we were all inclusive) was not open. When we questioned this they should said it was due to the weather? If you are not a breakfast person it’s not for you because you have to find your own food until lunch time or get up. On reflection the main issue was that there was no atmosphere in the hotel, even in the evening despite a show and access to a bar - only one was open. The one consolation were the animation team who were friendly, hard working and ran their activities with great enthusiasm. We definitely will not be returning as the local facilities were not enough to compensate and our plan was to save money by being all inclusive.

We booked this late for Christmas 2019 and were very pleasantly surprised by how good the hotel was, definitely value for money. The room was great with twin beds (only bugbear) bath and shower and the room was kept very clean, even got cleaned on Christmas day and left a bottle of bubbly and some sweet treats. The hotel is in a great location in Jandia, literally walk down the gardens to the back gate and you're out into a small shopping mall where you can take a lift down to the main plateau where there's two bars, one of which shows all the UK football. It's about a 10-15 minute walk along to the right to where the majority of shops, designer shops, tourist shops and bars and restaurants are. In the shopping mall there is also a burger king if that appeals to anyone and a subway under the highway to the beach. The food and drink was great had no problems with any of it and always found something that was good. Staff were very friendly, particularly Almudena at the lobby bar in the day and Miguel Angel who worked in both the lobby bar and the piano bar. The only thing that put us off was the number of children in the main entertainment bar till close and running around, other than that would return anytime.

Hotel was clean and enjoyable. The toilet door was a wooden door with air vents in, and unfortunately the cleaners let themselves in although I had a do not disturb sign on there. Yes they got me while sitting on the toilet. Few problems with ants and fly's, but the staff sorted it within five minutes if a phone call. Food was ok, but the same though out the week. Drinks machines where turned of so the only place was the pool area or at a snack bar away from where other activities took place. Air conditioning was very loud at night, and could hear chairs being pulled across hard floors, banging and other activities late at night.
