4th time at the Coral Cotillo Beach hotel for us. 17 fabulous nights in sunny Fuerteventura A great location. Highly recommended

Stayed here for a week at the beginning of September with my partner with Jet2 Holidays. Holiday type: Half board. Climate: mid 20s, pretty windy, cloudy in the mornings but sunny in afternoon and sunburn can be very real. Food: breakfast is good, varied options, pastries, hot foods like bacon, eggs, beans, and cold meats and cheeses as well as fruits and breads available. Variety of hot and cold drinks too. Evening dinner is not good, first night on a Saturday there were fresh cooked prawns, probably highlight of everyone’s week as these were the only things people were eating. Rest of the week was dreadful, limited options, they seem to reuse leftovers from night before for evening dishes. We ate twice in the hotel and ate out rest of the week. Evening meal also charges for every drink, so a water with your dinner is €2 which for half board you’d think there’d be just a water included perhaps but something to bear in mind. Hotel: rooms are lovely, recently refurbed so stylish, spacious and comfortable. We had a room on top floor right above the restaurant though could not hear noises when balcony doors were shut. Decor around the hotel is nice too and feels modern. There is however, no atmosphere at the hotel. Staff are lovely! But it must just be nature of the place. Chilling by the pool, it’s quiet which is good and mostly couples and the odd young family. Everyone keeps to themselves and good mix of Europeans and local Spaniards. Good mix of sunbeds, though absolute lack of staff presence to enforce any sort of hotel rules in common areas. Rule is that you can’t leave sunbeds for longer than 10 mins, some were left for hours. Sadly, we were in conflict with some local Spanish guests who had left their things on a sunbed for over 2 hours and we claimed it but hotel couldn’t give a shhh about resolving for us. Luckily a frequent Spanish guest of the hotel intervened and asserted our rights to remain on said sunbed. Area: El Cotillo is a quaint fishing village, small place with limited things to do. Though, some little gems to visit! Out the hotel straight left down the road, tiny local supermarket to buy water, fresh donuts (divine) and snacks and beers is perfect. Opposite that is the El Sabo cafe where the coffee is amazing for €1/€2. Delightful discovery as hotel coffee tastes like sewage. Leo’s pizza bar near the beach is class! La Vaca Azul for dinner, and live music down by the water! Cute holiday for couples but no rush to return!
