Sol Cala d'Or Apartments

Clean and good value for the price. Food was excellent, considering just a standard buffet. Very good attention to detail that other budget (& some premium) hotels miss, such as freshness of the fruit. Consistent quality throughout the week, and helpful friendly staff. Only downside was the route to our room took us around the back of the hotel passed the stores, etc. and outside bar area just basic white plastic furniture. Would definitely go back there, and family friendly.

First impressions on entering the reception, dark and dismal, the bar area, was dark and the smell of damp was over powering. The flat was damp a leak from the apartment the above twice in the living area and bathroom, shower was blocked, thing got sorted but the rooms all smelt of damp, the flat was dark bedroom and bathroom doors did not close, we were slf catering not enough to utensils, I pot 2 knives and 1 cup, we bought new cups. We went out for every meal breakfast lunch and dinner, which increased our spending. We watched other families arrive they very seldom stayed in the first apartment they were shown. We spoke to other families all had complained. Never again.

Hotel is dated no bars opened in the evening in hotel no entertianment in the evening very under staffed our room felt like we were in the dungeon down lots of stairs to apartment with heavey cases ..room was drab mattress were old ..kettle never worked toaster never worked ... fans you could get it depended who was on reception ... beds round the pool awful ... will never go back here needs updating rapid ..

We are a family with 2 children aged 15 months and 3 ½ years. On Arrival to Cala D’or we found the hotel and on first appearance it looked closed. Parking was an issue and we ended up a couple of streets away as it was a busy Saturday in Cala D’or. There is nowhere to stop to drop stuff off outside the hotel. The reception area looks tired, there is a dark Bar/lounge area which looks like it never gets used, some quirky statues, information about excursion leaflets and a safety deposit box room. We were greeted by Anthony who was very helpful and gave us the keys to room 405 and showed us up the ramps round the corner to the Room. The Dungeon/Room which was a ground floor 2 bed apartment with a single window to the front, it has a number of issues. No Daylight, cold water to the kitchen cutting out, the Shower switching from boiling hot to cold, the smell of sewers coming from the bathroom filling the entire apartment as there obviously a problem and no air circulation. There was noise and light from the room above in the main bedroom from the curtained air shaft for most of the night, no kettle or toaster, air con unit only in the main lounge, TV and the small overgrown terraced area leading onto the children’s pool. The following morning we requested to be moved as 2 weeks in this room was not going to work. We were shown 506 which was a first floor 2 bed apartment on the other side of the complex, there was a secure balcony with view of some other apartments and the table tennis table, over bath shower, hot and cold water, air con unit in children’s bedroom, kettle, toaster, kitchenette and Daylight (windows and free air in all rooms)! We took the plunge and moved. However the bath was rusty and the wall in the main bedroom between apartments 506 and 505 is made only of tissue paper, which made for an interesting morning when the couple from Blackburn in the next room decided to have a full scale/volume verbal debate at 7am….Every day! There was a benefit of this though as we found out that there was wine available in the local shop for 3 Euros, which was needed to overcome the fore mentioned issue. The smoke from the balcony below did become an annoyance. The roof leaked in the rain but it was heavy so to be expected to be honest. The Hotel breakfast was a nice surprise…every morning some slight variation on a cooked breakfast with nice coffee, juice, fruit, pastries, toast, jam and the chap serving was great. Beautiful place to go, staff are very friendly, cleaners came in every other day to put in clean towels,change bedding, empty bins ect.the pool was a little cool for my liking, although we was told other pools was a little cool too, the sea was alot warmer than the pool, there is some noise from local entertainment from 10.30pm- 12am but this is to be expected from its central location. Restaurants and shops are right outside the door, and nearest beach is 5 minutes walk away also there are other beaches nearby.there is a lifeguard on site everyday. This is a disabled friendly hotel making it good for all ages.free wifi and free aircon in rooms.

Completely ruined our holiday moved 3 times from one horrendous room to another. filthy dangerous cockroaches everywhere . It just ruined a holiday we were looking forward to. No self catering facilities as advertised although I'm not sure you riyals prepare food in the room.

This hotel is in an excellent location, but needs a Renovation, the Entrance and reception is dark and Smells very musty. There is a big room with a bar But it smells damp and musty, it could be a lovely lounge area.,I think we were lucky with our apartment Room 407, it had been modernised a little, overlooking the pool, but it was very small for four people, But it was clean, but most of the rooms were very old and rusty cookers and old kitchens, the balconys were rotten wood all need replacing. The pool area was ok, but also needs attention and the entertainment was no exsistant, Zumba in the pool twice a week. The bar opened two nights out of 11 The area outside the hotel has lots of bars and restaurants and shops.

Excellent facilities,fabulous fun club run by Anthony Soria, our son has difficulties, Anthony took him under his wing. By the end of the holiday my son's confidence had grown, he was able to swim the full length of the pool with no help.

I was very disappointed with the accommodation the upkeep and cleanliness and the staff were unhelpful and not interested. I wasn't expecting a 5 star but I certainly wasn't expecting what we got. I would not return that's my personal opinion each to their own!

The worst place you could go to, it's old, run down and needs a full upgrade to bring it up to scratch. I can cope with clean and basic but this was like going back to the 1960's. If you do go do not go in rooms 616 or 612. Room 616 is like a cave and room 612 was like sleeping on a sewerage plant because the toilet wasn't fixed to the floor and the waste pipe at the back was leaking, hence the smell of human waste was just lovely. Overall do not waste your hard earned money..... Please!

Staff at the apartments are great, location is great and the accommodation is perfectly acceptable for 2 star. The pool is clean as are the rooms and my family and I had a great holiday. A holiday is what you make of it and people shouldn't expect 4/5 star accommodation when they have paid for 2 star. We travelled with Jet2holidays who were excellent as always.

Brilliant holiday yet again. We didn't like our room this year however the girls on reception were very helpful and got us another room within 2 days. Sunbeds weren't a problem this as people couldn't reserve them (well done to the manager). If you put your towel on the sunbed and dont sit on it then its removed after an hour. At first I thought this wouldn't work but as late risers we were really pleased that at lunchtime we could still get sunbeds. Would definitely recommend going to Eden Paradise Kareoke bar at night - good entertainment and great cocktails 🍸🍹. Good places to eat are Marivent and Mistral (behind hotel on the way to Cala Ferrara) and Las Palmas (down the road just before Cala Gran beach). In the main centre definitely try Bar Laventa (gets really busy but you can reserve) you do have to wait for your food but it's worth it. If you want to eat in the Marina try Pisces cafe. It's not as expensive as some and you still get the atmosphere. As in previous years we would definitely recommend this hotel an will be booking for next year.

Check in was fine, reception staff very helpful, apartment was lovely and clean, modern and had everything you need for a self catering holiday. Pool area ok but in height of season may struggle to get sun bed. Ideal location, supermarket right on your doorstep, within walking distance to the centre and beach. Would return to these apartments.

Death trap. Poorly managed. A Russian roulette of room changing for every guest. Health & safety hazzard. Not fit for purpose. Cockroaches and a rat!!!. Rude staff. Accident waiting to happen. Avoid at all costs.
