Calimera Fido Gardens

Excellent, very clean and quiet hotel with beautiful swimming pools, beautiful garden, close to small, beautiful and quiet beach. It was an excellent food and drinks in the hotel and a very kindly staff. I had just one problem - when I booked a taxi in the hotel's reception, I waited one hour and a taxi didn't come at all. Spanish maniana.... Otherwise everything was excellent. I can strongly recommend this hotel for families with young children and for mature couples.

The hotel was exceptionally clean, mainly German holidaymakers. Enough sun beds to go round but very uncomfortable. Lots of choice at mealtimes. Had to pay for safe and for WiFi which was very slow and intermittent. Entertainment ok, they don’t get enough credit as they put a It of effort in. Very expensive holiday.

We read all the reviews before booking our stay and weren't put off by the prospect of bad entertainment or few English guests because we didn't think either of these would bother us. And to a large extent it didn't although the Entertainment team spoke predominantly German and so sending our 5 English speaking 5 year old to the kids club proved a bad idea. Most nights the 'show' consisted of the 5 strong entertainment team miming to music and dancing. The biggest draw back to our stay was the room. Our party included myself, my husband, my 16 year old daughter and a 5 year old. When we arrived we were opened our hotel room to find a double bed, a single bed and a cot. I don't know who they thought the cot was for but we went and asked for a bigger room only to be told all the rooms in the hotel are the same size. I suspect that there would have been enough room in there for a family with two small children but as one of our children was adult size it was a real squash when they replaced the cot with a folding bed. Therefore, my advice would be to choose a different hotel if you have bigger kids and want space to move around in your room. Another negative was the food. We are not fussy eaters and can generally find something everywhere but we were disappointed at several meal times. What I found most disturbing was that meals were often labelled as 'fish and meats' - well what meats and what fish? There was lots of repetition and we found that whatever vegetable was left over from the night before was fried in batter for breakfast! Mmm battered broccoli with greasy sausage, baked beans, hash browns, fried rind (meant to be bacon) and rock-like croissants. On the plus side the splash pool was perfect for our 5 year old. The splash pool is located across the road from the main hotel and we found that it was much quieter than the main pool, always easy to find beds and although the pool bar there only serves soft drinks and beer it was a lovely way to spend the day. Whilst I wouldn't slate this hotel because it did have its plus points and we managed to enjoy our holiday, we loved Majorca and cala d'or, I also wouldn't go as far as recommending this hotel to any of my friends or family.

Hotel not suitable for couples. Entertainment pathetic. Hotel area not suitable to accommodate large numbers. Not fussy for food but struggled here. Good location, loved the town. Would suit families with younger kids but not August too crowded. Only go if you speak German.

Lovely hotel not many English people mainly german. The entertainment wasnt very good, but apart from that we had a lovely time. The snack bar would stop serving all food early sometimes. The splash pool is brilliant my little girl loved it. Think it would be good if it served snacks too as well as drinks. The room was very clean and the cleaners came everyday. I would definitely recommend for families
