Ponient Hotel Dorada Palace by PortAventura World

• Clean • Friendly and helpful staff - key card wasn't working on first day, visited front desk who sorted this ASAP, then rang to make sure we was OK. • Nice room, spacious and clean. • Very clean in hotel, maids all the time • Good location, 10 mins to beach - beach very busy • 1 bar - short staffed (10 min wait for drink) • Not a lot of drink selection , also noted drinks watered down. Bars outside hotel served better drinks. • 1 bar for all inclusive - start charging after 11. This bar changed Midweek. • Cocktails pre made, was told only had certain ones available. Also by 2nd week of holiday, the choice got even more limited • Had to book restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Best time for couple without children was half 9. Always got fresh food and cleaned regularly. • Food was good. Tasted nice just difficult to make meal. Section at back of restaurant made fresh food there and then. I.e. one night was burger night and another kebabs. • Rooftop pool very good. Adults only, quiet and spent most of time here. No bar so had to walk down to ground level to get drinks, we was OK with this in the end to get fresh air. • Jet2 not available until Sunday - however did come in to see us when we messaged on WhatsApp they turned up • Sports bar at port aventura- very nice staff,food and drink brilliant (20 min walk) • Not happy with port aventura - extremely busy. Long queues. Had to wait 2 hours, only managed 4 rides in 7 hours... • Happy with waterpark but don't need all day • Roadhouse nearby restaurant- highly recommend!!!!

Very disappointed that on arrival we were taken to a separate building away from the hotel to an apartment. The apartment block has not been renovated and felt like something from a Butlins holiday camp. I cannot fault the comfort of the beds and quality of the linen and also the shower pressure was fantastic. As this was an apartment it had a small kitchen facility and a roof top but being on the ground floor we suffered with cockroaches and ants. The bedroom backed onto gardens with loungers which were very dirty so we didn't use these but after 11 at night a sprinkler system kicked in and rotated onto the window so you couldn't leave the window open or you would get a cold shower intermittently whilst lying in bed! The actual hotel building is very dated but very clean. The pool area always had plenty of beds, and was very quiet. At 54 my husband and I did feel like the youngest there at one point and the entertainment is geared towards 70+ so if you want something lively then you need to venture out. I did find the hotel staff very stand offish, they were helpful if needed but not at all welcoming. The only staff I found to be happy were the gardeners and maintenance workers. We stayed Bed and Breakfast and the breakfast was exactly the same for the whole 10 days. The quality of food is not great. The sausages were awful - i would say 1% meat and not so much fresh fruit - tinned peaches and pears, some fresh melon and pineapple. Overall we would not return to this hotel purely because we didn't stay in the hotel - nothing was mentioned in the overview of the chance of being put in an apartment.

Spent 7 nights in the Dorarda Palace and had no complaints Rooms were spotless and cleaned every day There was a great selection of food in the restaurant and the staff were excellent Sixth floor adult only pool was quiet and relaxing if you wanted some down away for the main pools.

Lovely hotel clean and bright plenty of choice of food far enough away from the hussle but near enough to walk in to the main shopping area adults only pool on the roof top is great and the view around was good

overall very good clean as a whistle food very good indeed. The main pool is quite small think it would be manic in the height of summer. Well situated to the town and a 10 minute walk to the theme parks location fantastic

Hotel is very clean and tidy, a little bit dated.This definitely a hotel for families, everything is geared up for children.Every evening there is a childrens disco until 10pm and even when the 'grown up' entertainment comes on the children still take over - no chance of dancing if there is music as the children run wild.The hotel has far too many rules for it to be a relaxing holiday. If you are a smoker then you cannot smoke on your balcony - you have to stand outside the front of the hotel before 9am in the morning.The doors to the rear are not opened until 9am so you cannot sit on the pool terrace.If you buy drinks from the bar these cannot be taken into the dining room.We found most of the staff miserable looking and unapproachable.In the dining room you had to wait to be seated for dinner - on one occasion we asked to be seated somewhere else as we were a couple with no children and were told 'no you sit here'. Could not fault the rooms, although the key system was temperamental - we found out if you kept your key card next to your phone it wiped the details.The pool was freezing cold and beds were cramped in around the pool area.We went 1st week of October thinking there would be less children - we were wrong......it seems people do still take their children out of school in term time.

This is a really good hotel, only 10 - 15 mins walk to the beach and resort centre. Food is excellent , there is a huge choice at all meal times so something for everyone. Daytime entertainment is very good , they work very hard to get everyone involved. Only 1 drawback - no matter how many are in a room you are only allowed 2 chairs for the balcony. Feel sorry for any smokers as smoking is not allowed on the balcony and you have to go downstairs to the terrace.

The hotel was spotless. Clean towels every day and maids made your beds. Food was great for adults but kids could have more variety. Staff were friendly especially Ivan. Overall a very good hotel and would def go back.

The Dorada Palace is in a great location, just a short walk from bars, restaurants and a beautiful sandy beach. The staff here are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The only let down is the food in the evenings, really wasn't to our taste but you wont starve. The adult only rooftop hotel was a great touch and we used it a few times. The fact that you can hire towels is a bonus, saved us using our own..less to wash on our return home.The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, daily maid service.overall, i would return to this hotel, but would only book bed & breakfast.

really nice hotel, great location for shops, beach and theme park. very clean all over, room cleaned and towels changed daily. everyone works very hard all the time.This is our second visit and this time we were slightly disappointed with the meals, even the show and cook food was not as hot as we expected although this is a very large busy hotel and i accept it must be difficult to feed the amount they do daily. The choice was excellent just not overly hot.

The hotel was spotless with good facilities, a lovely restaurant and friendly staff. The swimming pools were not heated and the entertainment was variable but overall this hotel offers great value for money.

Excellent hotel, rooms and staff. Child friendly balcony with lovely view. Clean room and fresh towels daily. Lovely choice of pools for all ages including adult only area upstairs. Alcohol very cheap and good quality.

Excellent hotel. Very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. Entertainment could be better. Dining room is well laid out with a variety of different foods catered for every nationality. Would recommend Hotel Dorada Palace to anyone as it is situated perfectly for shops, beaches & nightlife.

This is our second stay at Dorada Palace and our expectations were met once again. The hotel itself is clean as are the rooms the housekeeping staff work very hard and we're friendly. The staff at reception and in the restaurant were great and always helpful. The entertainment team were great too through the day night time more catered to younger kids but still good. There was also some great acts after the kids disco. We love Salou as there is something to do for everyone with short flights and transfers. We will definitely return
