Gran Hotel Costa Del Sol

Just arrived home from a lovely relaxing week..been musing booking this one for a couple of years but always hesitated due to the reviews...wish I had ignored them! The hotel is spotless, the setting is lovely, the staff were wonderful, the room was bigger than usual and so comfy and warm, the outside bar is nice to sit in and watch the world go by and the food had a good choice every day...why people think they should serve a whole selection of everything and expect to like everything is beyond me. Had a problem with the bathroom but soon as reported it was sorted by a very friendly maintenance guy only too happy to help. What's not to like? Usual 5 star jet 2 service at the airports and good messaging from rep to say there if needed. Definitely one to go back to...ignore the grumbles from people who want a 5 star hotel at a 3 star price !

Huge hotel similar to those constructed in the 1970s. Apart from a small pool and a few sun loungers the hotel offers no facilities. Breakfast was excellent but served in a vast underground area. One pool bar (very small) and nowhere else to buy a drink until the indoor bar opens in the evening - this bar was too awful to describe.

After reading all sort of reviews I was not sure about this hotel. It was my first ever all inclusive holiday, and I was very pleased they allocated us to a higher room than the one we booked with beautiful view of the sea and refurbished with no extra cost. The food was different every day and although it wasn’t posh there was an option for everyone. The bar a the swimming pool is small but you had max 2 people in front of you so no wait. I would suggest the evening shows outside by the pool as they did on St Johns evening it was lovely, and the other nights it is indoors which is a shame in such lovely weather. They said the hotel was full but it never felt overcrowded around the swimming pool, which is perfect if you look for a relaxing time. The village is very little but you could find all you need, but this makes it also very relaxing if you prefer to be on the beach. The location is definitely the best with the beach just a step outside the swimming pool area!! I would not say this classifies as a 4 star hotel but it is not expensive so good value, and definitely would stay there again!

The hotel is fine, a 6 storey building virtually on the beautiful beach, and only 200 yards from bars and some superb restaurants. Do not eat here, the food is awful. The pool is not for swimming, it is only about 4 feet deep at the deep end, the pool bar is great, but overall, I would return, but only on a B&B basis, and even the breakfast is basic.

Great location and room is fair cleaner very poor didn’t clean floors once and only pulled the covers up to make the bed the food wasn’t very good had to eat out most days I think it is because they don’t cater for the English palet Also we didn’t go all inclusive which I’m glad as you only got the cheap drinks but overall if you want a good location to explore the area then it is ok
