Girassol Suite Hotel

As this hotel was a suited hotel it meant that we had a sitting room that we could chill out in after a day on the road before bed. It also had a TV that we could watch some films etc. There was a car Park for your hire car if you had one too. It was just Bed & Breakfast.and if you wanted dinner that was available too at your own expense with plenty of choice of food.

Hotel was clean and well organized. The food was good with the Buffet lunches by the pool a highlight. The Adults only pool was also a bonus. The location was good for the local amenities. The only negative was no Tea or Coffee supplied in the room.

Good hotel Some reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful It was a shame the air con broke half way through the week so 3 nights with none, hotel did not inform us, update us or advise when it would be fixed, they didn’t seem bothered. Air con is always a consideration for us so we were disappointed to be left without it Food reasonable Drinks selection limited but ok

Great hotel. Have been many times. Great to go at Christmas and New Year. View from the roof at New Year of the Madeira Fireworks is amazing. Great position for both the town centre and the lido. Easy walking distance to both. Buses are just outside the hotel and fairly frequent. Staff are excellent and friendly. Always there to help and advise as necessary. Spa is excellent. Have used it a few times. It is fairly new. Having two swimming pools is great. The smaller adults only pool is slightly heated so better for swimming in. There is also a children's pool. Food is varied and very good. Having your own suite is great. Plenty of room. Just feels like having your own flat. The higher rooms have the best views.

A pleasant hotel in good location. Our room was always clean and fresh. All staff were pleasant and attentive. Food was adequate but a little disappointing - modest choices and the cheese board in particular was poor with never more than two options.

Fab modern hotel in tourist area but not noisy, near sea, park, great local bus stops for cheap trips to old city centre, amid bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. Excellent food served hot with wide daily choice, good service, lovely modern rooms with good air con, great facilities, lifts, spa, pools, happy to stay here again.

This is a very pleasant hotel, with good, very clean facilities and attractive decor and surroundings. What made it really special for us was the staff, who were so very friendly & couldn’t do enough to help. We travelled as a family group but in two separate suites. As grandparents (young ones!) we were happy to be able to spend time at the peaceful adult pool with its daybeds and in-water loungers, the pool long enough to do a few gentle lengths before flopping down with a drink (generous measures) and a book. The family pool was well-used but never overcrowded and parents were not of the mindset to constantly either ignore or yell at their kids. We were on an all-inclusive board basis and the food didn’t disappoint. It was plentiful and tasty, with fish dishes being a feature but other choices always also available. A constant supply from breakfast - cooked, Continental, cereals, toast, pastries - took us to 11:00 pastries in the pool bar. Lunch is served from 1pm, with hot choices and salads, delicious cakes and fruit. At about 4pm more snacks appeared, with dinner in the dining room served from 7pm. We tend to veer away from ‘laid-on’ entertainment but actually the live bands at the bi-weekly barbecue nights were excellent. The only reason I’ve given the hotel 4 instead of 5 stars is the beds. The mattresses have probably seen better days - we could feel the wire work frames and I ended up putting a thick blanket under the sheet for some padding. Such a pity, as the rest of it was so great.

Lovely hotel. friendly staff. Near to local amenities. Breakfast was lovely, good choice. Didnt have evening meal but lots of nice eateries close by. Nice shop/cafe next door. Would deffinately stay again.

A modern spacious comfortable secure and clean hotel in a great convenient location. Pools and public areas more than adequate. Staff friendly and accommodating. Would have no hesitation in returning.

This hotel was very clean , and the rooms were very modern, with a lounge area and balcony included. Staff were friendly and had very good communication skills. The pool area was lovely and clean. The food was at a good standard. I would definitely recommend especially considering how affordable this hotel was.

Spotless hotel with great staff.very smart pool areas with towels supplied.all inclusive package good value something for everyone.1 small problem the sunbeds are not very pratical as are fixed size and shape and you cannot lie on your front .Funchal is a lovely area great resturants and shopping a short walk from hotel.Would definately return.

The hotel rooms need updating, the food is what you expect from most all inclusive holidays but the staff were all lovely especially john at the pool bar. Quiet and relaxing hotel in a great location, would definitely go back.

Hotel reception staff are so friendly.Rooms are very clean but could do with updating.We were B&B which suited there are plenty of lovely restaurants to eat out at.the lifts are very small. There’s a fridge in your room which we brought beer to put in, even left tin opener for us to open.lovely pool area plenty of sun beds would definitely stay here again.Take your own tea or coffee there’s a supermarket near by to get it from cheap enough.
