Calheta Beach

Stayed at the Calheta Beach a couple of weeks before Christmas so it wasn't crowded out, check in was so easy and the staff were immensely helpful throughout the holiday and nothing was too much trouble I had a sea view which was fantastic the room was modern and clean and definitely 4*plus. This is a great place to chill out and would definitely stay here again. The village itself is very quiet with a couple of bars and restaurants but you can get out and explore the island which I did for 3 days. Overall one of the nicest holidays I've been on, I booked through Jet2 which I'll be booking through again, many thanks Calheta beach

Great first impressions got upgraded and Suzanna on reception was really helpful and friendly. Suite was very nice and the bed was super comfy. Food was of a good standard usual buffet fare for an AI option. Something that let the hotel down was a lack of parking facilities. We hired a car for a couple of days and were amazed to be given the options of either parking in an adjoining car park for 7.5 euros per day, parking on the street and paying the meter or parking for free on a roadway about 15 minutes walk away. If we had hired the car at the airport for the whole week this would have been a poor start to the holiday. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Resort is quiet and there was little walking to do as one of the roads out was closed due to ongoing work on the cliff face. Because of this and the hills around, a car was essential in order to see more of the island. The hotel did have a shuttle bus to Funchal but this was 20 euros per person so not a cheap option.

lovely hotel, with fantastic friendly staff,who cannot do enough for you. immaculately clean, entertainment really good . we went foe Christmas, Adults were given a mini bottle of madeira wine and children received chocolate.

Very quiet and peaceful location located on the beach next to the marina. Food was varied always plenty of choice and well presented. Rooms were cleaned to a high standard. Lovely pool area with decent lounger.

We stayed for 10 days in November. We had a sea view room, very nice. We had requested a kettle in the room & this was there on arrival. All the staff are cheerful, helpful and very attentive to any needs you may have. Entertainment outside every evening, some better than others but nice to sit outside on a November evening. Not a lot to do in Camera but trips from the hotel are arranged at extra cost. Plenty of sunbeds and peaceful around the pool. Ideal hotel if you just want to relax and have a drink or snack at any time of the day.

My first holiday in 15years and I was so happy. Beautiful hits, lovely staff and great location for us. Hour away from Funchal but right on the beach. We enjoyed the pool all day and the few rested aunts along the harbour were perfect. If you don't want a busy night life then this is the place for you.

We booked our trip to Madeira as a late deal, reviews looked good and the hotel lived up to its reputation. Beautifully clean, staff were so helpful and welcoming. But the best thing for me was the kitchen and dining room staff. I'm am a coeliac and in the past at hotels when I've asked about what is safe for me to eat, I've been given a whistle stop Tour of the food, "you can eat it , you can't eat that." Not at the Savoy Calheta; apart from breakfast when there was a good selection of gluten free food, each meal a chef came to my table, asked what I would like and then cooked a separate meal for me and the food was wonderful. I cannot say how much this blessed me and meant that I did t get sick once during the holiday. A fantastic hotel throughly recommend it. Madeira is also a beautiful island and there is so much we didn't get to see, we will be returning.

A nice place for a relax , had comfy beds , very clean rooms , the food was limited sometimes but it was nice quality , the staff were very polite and helpful , the restaurant bosses always smiled and welcomed you , overall nice place , it's in a quiet area of Madeira, only disappointment was they don't have irons or ironing boards so when ours broke we couldn't get one and there was no shops nearby to buy one , on reception they advised they don't provide irons for health and safety, apart from this nice place and quick access to the man made beach , also would be good if they provided a bar on the beach ;)

A Savoy hotel in name only.Food choice and quality was similar to 3star Spanish hotel, very poor and repetitive. Staff worked hard but never smiled. Hotel is on road to no where and transport is needed to explore Maderia. Hills and mountains not ideal for walking especially for kids and elderly. Although the beach was next to the hotel sunbeds and umbrellas on beach had to be paid for. Although Smirnoff was on all inclusive menu there was none available only a cheap local brand.Overall a vastly overpriced holiday that is no comparison to quality of previous holidays in Turkey.
