Thalassi Hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Eva and Dimitri. Their staff were very personable . The food was fresh, traditional Greek fare set in a beautiful modern restaurant with outstanding views and magnificent sunsets. The rooms were set around a pool and bar area. It was well placed for local buses which were regular and inexpensive.

Great place for a relaxing holiday, Just back from 10 days in this family run hotel. All the staff are very friendly and can`t do enough for you especially Dimitris, Eva and Anthony, Quality of food is excellent and a good variety as well.

Excellent hotel with friendly generous staff and a wounderful taverna that provided fresh quality food with plenty of choice throughout our stay. A wonderful place to unwind and recharge your batteries.

What can you say what as not been said before about this Hotel and Eva & Dimitirious & the caring staff. We spent 10 nights all inclusive nd loved every bit of it so much will have booked 14 nights in the year, which is a first for us as we are always ready for home after 10 nights away. We like walking and it is ideal in the area around the Hotel, Eva put us onto trips on the little yellow train these was intresting morning local trips and lots of fun at little cost.

Bravo bravo bravo. Had a such a great welcome and stay at this hotel. Staff fantastic food fantastic and cleanliness fantastic could not ask for any more. We had such a good time here and will certainly go back.

The staff at the hotel were fantastic, they even remembered our name. We were on the second floor which was a clime of 52 steps in an apartment that would have slept 5. Twin beds in the separate bedroom and 3 large sofa's in the living area. There was a kettle and fridge so we were able to have a morning cupa sat on the good size balcony and cold drinks that were refreshing not look warm. The restaurant is about a 10 minute stroll from the hotel but believe me it is worth it. The food was fantastic. All the salad was home grown and the meat and fish were bought fresh each day from the local butchers or docks. The olive oil was from their own olive groves and was used in the cooking, you could really taste the difference. There was also a bar in the restaurant where a nice cool glass of beer or wine is served. The restaurant has direct access down a few steps to the beach where sun beds could be hired. All the staff were fantastic, form the owners to the cleaners, nothing was too much trouble. Eva on reception and pool bar has a very good local knowledge and will help with any queries. I honestly can't fault the hotel or staff and will try to go back in May next year and hopefully go a some of the trips that I didn't get on.

Wanted a quite week away in the sun and the Thalassi ticked all the boxes, if you want the usual shops and bars these are a 20 minute bus ride away. There is a supermarket near by if you do run out of essentials, however we were all inclusive which was first time for us and was pleasantly surprised, a good selection of buffett breakfast at the hotel itself followed by afternoon lunch and evening dinner, this was served to you at the taverna a short 5 minute walk away over looking the sea which has great views, food was generally 3 courses of good quality and plentiful, and in the week we were there had a different delicious evening meal every night. The all inclusive drinks were served from 10.00am to 10.00pm which consisted of one type of beer red and white wine, soft drinks, tea coffee and two types of spirits, for big drinkers this may of been a small choice, however sufficient for ourselves not being drinkers, was a well stocked bar if you did want to purchase something different. Rooms were clean and tidy, would have liked a shower head bracket on the wall as had to hold the head over ourselves to shower, not sure if all rooms were the same, clean pool area with plenty of sunbeds very quiet and majority of holiday makers were elderly which suited us for the peace and quite we wanted. Overall a relaxing week away in a quiet area of Crete, the staff were extremely friendly especially the owners who made you feel part of one big family who always made sure you was ok, especially Dimitris who ran the taverna part of the hotel who really could'nt do enough for you attending to all of your needs and making sure everything was just right. If in the future we are looking for a quite relaxing week away for a fair price would definitely return to the Thalassi.

It was our first holiday in crete. The location was brillant as there was a bus that took about 25 mins to get to Rethynmon. There was a pool which was next to the bar. Our open plan family room alouded us to have plenty space - Jet2Hoildays said it was free to upgrade to the room. There was free wifi. Eva was a great help and book 2 coach trips for us. The beach was a 2 -3 mintune walk - just under the bridge. It was private so it wasnt that packed. There was a set menu everyday for Lunch which you could pick. There was a opinion of 3 dishes for dinner. The food was brilliant. We had to pay 5 euros a night for A/C. Overall best hotel we have ever been. It doesnt feel like a 3 star more like a 4 star.

We wanted a beach holiday preferably in Greece . Eventually found flights to Crete and having read the trip adviser reviews - several controversial - decided on this family run hotel.On late arrival , 1.30am, we were warmly greeted by Eva with wine and a salad saved for us.She explained how the hotel was split into 2 with breakfast at the hotel and all other meals at the beach bar 400 yds away on the waterfront. Our room was comfortable and clean - sheets and towels replaced every 2 days. Breakfast was more than adequate with bacon/egg / continental style ham and cheese -- fruit -several breads and jams/honey washed down with juices and tea/coffee. There is a small yet adequate pool with children's area and sunbeds On day one - temp was 40c - we went to the beach cafe and met Dimitri - Eva's husband who runs this side of the hotel. The beach bar looks out over the med with a lower terrace with sunbeds/brollies and a strip of beech with sunbeds and a safe/easy gradual access into the sea. Lunch was excellent with a daily choice of 10 or so options and the all inclusive drinks -wines/beer and brandy of a high standard. Dimitri is a large, imposing and extremely proud Cretian,. He takes great pride in providing high quality local and typical Greek food. Those who have traveled throughout Greece will know that portions are always generous. We struggled to eat all of our lunch to which Dimitri asked what was wrong.We explained that the extreme heat made it difficult to eat large amounts. He was not happy and felt it was the food or his chef that we didn't like. Much of the food is grown in his own allotment of which he is again very proud. I then ordered some tea which he found ridiculous as we were all inclusive, on holiday and should be drinking alchohol. Why was he drinking only water i asked? The temperature remained at 40 over the next few days and by talking to Dimitri we gradually reduced our portions and courses to something maneageble.We were now thoroughly enjoying the holiday and the temperature gradually dropped to a more maneagable 33/34. We spoke at length to Dimitri . We have to say his food is superior to several 5 star establishments we have stayed in throughout Europe. How they provide all inclusive of this quality and in such generous quantities at the price is amazing. Dimitri also has a wicked sense of humour and became great company as the week went on. Overall we were very happy with everything. Thankyou both for a great break.
