A maze of charming streets
Wander through Taormina’s winding lanes to experience pretty, pastel-hued buildings that ooze that Italian charm. Look up and you’ll see wrought iron balconies overflowing with colourful flowers basking in the sunshine. Around nearly every corner, you’ll be treated to grand public squares, sun-drenched gardens and intricate churches.
Take to the stage
This part of Sicily is home to one of Italy’s top attractions, the ancient Greek theatre of Taormina. It was built into the rock, high up on Mount Taro, so as you can imagine, the views are pretty spectacular. And thanks to the shape of the auditorium, the acoustics are second to none. Catch a live performance or picture yourself as the star of the show!
Escape to an enchanted island
The tiny islet of Isola Bella rises from the tranquil turquoise water just off the coast. It’s connected to Taormina by a thin strip of pebbled beach, so if you’ve packed your water shoes, you can walk across with ease. It’s often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Ionian’ and as the name suggests, it really is beautiful.
