Good family holiday
12 Sep 2022
Recently returned from a 10 day stay at Tsokkos protaras hotel so thought I’d give an honest review. Arrived with wife and 16 month old daughter late in the evening, quick check in as we had private transfer, was also given sandwiches which we both didn’t like the look of although did actually taste ok. Was a little disappointed in the room we had as it was quite dated and not as seen on the pictures on the website. Rooms had the essentials fridge, safe and small hairdryer, also had a decent travel cot already in the room. Telly in the room was Greek channels so didn’t bother with it after that, shower and bath were good. Location was good a few hundred meters from the beach and in the other direction same sort of distance to the strip with all the bars/restaurant. Couple of supermarkets on the same road if anything’s needed. We were a little worried about the food as we did see some recent bad reviews, breakfast and lunch were repetitive although there was a good choice of usual English breakfast, yoghurts, fruit, cheeses, coffee/juice machines.
Evening meals were themed nights which we did enjoy a couple of nights, nice desserts, again just a little repetitive. Service at meal times were good, quick drinks and plates were cleared quickly after you’d finished. Receptionists seemed a little grumpy although always helped when you needed them booking taxis etc. entertainment was pretty average, there was a young Ukrainian lass trying her best to get people involved in yoga/aqua aerobics/darts in the day but people wasn’t to interested. Evening entertainment there was singers a couple of nights and the same entertainer doing bingo/ music quiz, all pretty average especially for any families with young kids like us. Pool was large and good for the kids, a few smaller pools also. Sunbeds we’re hard to come by, had to be up really early to reserve one, hated doing it myself although had to else would miss out. Drinks at the outdoor bar were good some nice cocktails. Our rooms were cleaned most days and there were often cleaners mopping floor in reception area (did make floor quite slippy). Overall we had a good holiday there, basic rooms, food was ok, I’d stay again although won’t be my first choice next visit to protaras.

Perfect location

Hotel in a fantastic location. Close to everything. Hotel was clean and tidy but some areas need attention - the gym was not somewhere as a female I wanted to venture and I love the gym. Rooms were large and comfy. Wardrobe space was extremely limited but as a family of three we managed. Pool area was well maintained and activities during the daytime. Evening entertainment was the only down side about the hotel. Was not family friendly at all. Just boring singers each night that were not entertaining. We use to have a drink before dinner and one after and then head up to the strip. So much to do in Protaras for anyone. Food was really good for adults but needs attention for the kids. There is always pizza, chips, pasta. Breakfast was lovely and always plenty to fill up on. Staff were helpful and polite at all times. The all inclusive bar was good - there were even about 10 cocktails to choose from. Made from scratch too each time. You have to be up early to get a sun bed but you could sometimes get one at 9am or do what some other people did and put your towels down the night before!!! Alll in all a lovey hotel and we would go back.

Near to perfect really - just a couple of issues
07 Aug 2019
The location was perfect...the hotel is very clean particularly the restaurant. The staff were friendly and did an excellent job again particularly the restaurant and pool bar. There is a great choice of food at breakfast and lunch. We don’t eat meat so had a little less choice in the evening and fish dishes were not so appealing but this is our issue not the hotels - for meat eaters there is an abundance of choice. I would have liked to have had a salmon dish or more prawn dishes but would not lower the rating for this. The main issue that we had was an unpleasant smell in our room 643... sewerage/damp smell which hit you when you entered... when queried with the one young lady on reception she initially shrugged it off but we asked to be moved after a week which did not present a problem to the older gentleman on reception. The room we moved to 539 was a little smaller but no smell. The corridors particularly on the 6th floor need a little attention as regards painting and carpet is very worn but this did not affect our holiday. The furniture in the room has knocks and splits in the wood. It appeared to not be very good quality.... again - these places take a bashing so for the hotel rating i think we got what we paid - the mattress was clean along with the bedding and towels so it was acceptable. Not sure that the all inclusive spirits at the pool bar are that strong.... I would visit again as the location is great.....just at the top of the main strip but stone throw to the beach. The film festival was on - free open air films on show and ended up going there 3 nights which was great as we don’t often do that at home. Overall very good

Brilliant Holiday
10 Nov 2018
This hotel was fabulous. The food was incredible. Lots of choice and not all burgers and chips which is what I expected from an all inclusive resort hotel. in fact there were no burgers. It is great for families as there are 3 different sized pools so anyone with babies up to teenagers would find the right size and there was entertainment too. This included a children's disco and quizzes for all ages. The hotel is perfectly placed for a day at the beach (around a 4 minute walk) and is around the corner from all the bars and restaurants if you wish to go off sight for food. I would highly recommend this hotel. It would appear that it has been refurbished since last year so the facilities i.e. toilets, bar & reception area have been upgraded. The only niggle we had was that our room didn't have much storage but we looked in other rooms (our friends) and they had enough or plenty so it must depend on the room. We made do as we liked the room but the hotel staff were more than happy to have moved us if we had decided to. This didn't impact on the overall excellent service that we received from the hotel as a whole.

Good location
07 Nov 2018
I have been using this Hotel for the past 10 years. It's in a great location and the pool area is nice with plenty of sunbeds. It has been needing renovated for quite some time and I was delighted to discover online that the renovation had taken place. However, on arriving at the hotel the reception area was updated very nicely, additional area had been added to the dining room which was nice but I was extremely disappointed when I went to my room and discovered that the room was exactly the same as it had been for the previous 10 years. Apparently only some of the rooms were renovated and not all but this was not highlighted or apparent from the Jet2 website. When I spoke with the Receptionist she said that only 52 rooms had been renovated. I am thinking of going back next year but will check first to ensure that all rooms have been renovated. The breakfast was OK, lunch and dinner choices were a disappointment. Food was cold. Was all inclusive but ate out every night. They need to up the standard of food. It's such a pity because the hotel is in a great location at the centre of the resort and right next to the beach. The staff are all nice so just a few changes and this would be rated excellent.

Not for vegetarians
21 Oct 2018
My wife and I stayed at the Tsokkos Beach Hotel between the 5th and the 19th October.First of all I was a little disappointed as the hotel is not on the beach ( there are some very misleading photographs on websites )Secondly my wife is vegetarian and , on occasions, had little or no choice to eat particularly at lunch time.On certain days , there wasn't even a vegetarian soup that she could have. After about 5 days , we were informed that vegetarian options could be ordered but only for evening meals. On one occasion we both order mushroom omelettes and when they arrived they weren't very hot.We actually ate out for 7 of our 14 nightsThe room we were given was at the front edge of the hotel which was about 50 yards from Waves cocktail bar and we had to use earplugs most night to diffuse the noiseWhy would the hotel put two 60 plus year old in this type of room ?

Nice big pool, day time entertainment good. Pool bar slow at times. Lack of food choice especially for kids. Snacks out of hours poor. Hotel staff, cleaners and managers amazing. Restaurant Astoria next door amazing and super friendly, see Georgina the parrot.
