Hotel Le Meridien Lav

This is a lovely hotel located on the outskirts of Split in Podstrana. There were two restaurants open initially in the resort to choose from in the evening, with a third one opening at the end of our stay on 6th July. The room was of an excellent size but lacked a bit of furniture- there was nowhere to store your suncream, sunglasses, bits and pieces like the first aid kit etc. We had to use the coffee table for this but there was plenty of space for them to have a shelving unit fitted. There was a good sized area for the wardrobe but a complete lack of hangers for two people staying for 9 nights - this was remedied by a quick phone call reception. The shower in the bathroom, was difficult to use, it would not stay in the showering/water fall positions without us holding it constantly and it was noisy. Our room was a Premium room with Marina view, however we were placed above the restaurants and when they closed their huge glass doors in the evening - the noise woke us every night! Breakfast had lots of choice, but we found the bacon to be more like ham and the scrambled eggs left a lot to be desired. The tomatoe ketchup was definitely not Heinz! However, if you ordered from the bar menu, they always bought you Heinz ketchup in small jars. We did find the arrival on Sunday 30th June to be a bit chaotic, with one female member of the reception team to be quite rude - we did not deal with her again during our stay! Overall a nice hotel with good facilities but not up to the five star standard that we have been used to in Majorca.

Excellent accommodation. We booked half board, breakfast excellent choice of items, but found dinner was not as good and did complain to hotel that food not always kept hot. As a result we kept mainly to salads and as a result ate out a couple of times in the evening. Other disappointment was that our excursion to Split and Trogir was cancelled, we were told to lack of numbers! However we only got to Split on the very good and cheap bus service that ran from close to the hotel. Room staff were excellent and looked after us very well.

We stayed in the hotel for a week - two teenaged and two adults - had separate rooms - the rooms cleaned daily - little on the small side - but not in them much so was okay - the hotel ground are stunning - the staff were always helpful - would recommend - but you need to get a cab in to split town where the food and drinks are much cheaper than on site in any of there restaurants - the lunch in one of the restaurants in the beach was over £170 for four - but was on £60 outside of the complex
