Palazzo Pubblico/Ducal Palace
The Palazzo Pubblico or Ducal Palace has a colourful history. It was probably designed by Giotto (1266-1337) and became the residence of Castruccio Castracani, a Renaissance mercenary captain. Destroyed in 1370, the palace was restored by Paulo Guinigi in 1401 and today houses the local administration of Lucca.
