There’s nothing nicer than waterfront food and drinks. Luckily, Kalkan has heaps of eateries packed around its boat-filled bay. Peruse the menus of tasty Turkish mezes – grilled meats, zesty salads and fresh-baked flatbreads – and settle in for an afternoon of boat watching to the sound of clinking cutlery and chitter chatter. At night, hit the yacht club for sunset cocktails.
A boat trip around the bay is a great way to while away a couple of hours. If you’re a little more adventurous, water sports are big news around here. Back on dry land, the small, pebble beach is a kick-back-and-take-it-all-in kinda place. There are a few chill-out beach clubs with cabanas too – the wooden bathing platforms give them a real 'Riviera' feel.
If you’re a fan of old architecture, you can eye up the amazing Ottoman-Greek buildings in the old part of town. Better still, Kalkan’s well-placed for a day trip to the Lycian city of Xanthos. Get a glimpse into the goings on of this ancient empire as you wander around a crumbling amphitheatre and tombs dating back to 480 BC.

This boutique marina, set in the charming town of Kalkan, is the perfect place for a stroll. It’s just a short walk from the centre of Kalkan and you’ve got a variety of bars and restaurants to choose from, whether it’s for a laidback al fresco lunch or a swanky dinner with the twinkling boats as your backdrop.

Day or night, the beach clubs of Kalkan draw in the crowds. These swish and exclusive spots are the best places in the area to relax with amazing food and cooling cocktails. Reserve a lounger on the sand and expect attentive service without having to move a muscle. Come night-time, live DJs provide the soundtrack to a chilled evening.

Looking for the best beach in the area? You just found it. Kaputas Beach is a hidden paradise along the Turkish Riviera, nestled between the resorts of Kas and Kalkan. Head down a steep staircase and this breathtaking cove with crystal-clear turquoise waters will be revealed. This small but stunning beach is a hit for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling.
