Fuengirola really makes the most of its location on the Med, with bars, restaurants and shops all along the promenade. The beaches run for kilometres, so you’re sure to grab a good spot. Plus, calm waters and gently shelving beaches mean much of the coastline is family-friendly.
The 10th-century Castillo Sohail overlooks the town. Get a great view of what’s below by taking a tour of this Moorish fortress right up in the hills. A little further afield is miraculous Malaga, a city filled with art museums and a Roman amphitheatre.
Fuengirola’s all about the tunes too. It hosts the annual festival, Marenostrum Fuengirola, for starters, which showcases loads of Spanish artists. In fact, the resort’s also seen other major international acts here in concert. JLo, Craig David… Yep, we’re looking at you.
Fuengirola, Costa del Sol
The port area has a real buzzy vibe at night. It's packed with bars, pubs, cafes and discos where you can drink or dance until dawn. Shaggy's music bar has themed nights, live bands and comedians, while Scubie's Bar has British pub grub, a pool table and shows Sky Sports on its big screens.
Fuengirola, Costa del Sol
As you wander through the fantasy tropical forest, you'll come across crocodiles basking on the shores of the Nile, Sumatra tigers bathing alongside Angkor Wat and bats flitting around abandoned mines. In July and August the Bioparc stays open until 1am, allowing you to observe the more nocturnal animals.
Fuengirola, Costa del Sol
With 160 stores, eateries and a 12-screen cinema, you'll find everything you need under one roof here. It's got C&A (remember them?), Zara, H&M, Mango and Primark, plus Burger King, Costa and more. There's also a Kids' Club full of activities, workshops and parties for the youngest members of the family.
