Pavement cafés and bars and restaurants by the shore all serve up fantastic menus bursting with Spanish cuisine. Catalan rice dishes, grilled veg, fresh fish – you name it, they’ve all got it. Stay a while and sip rich, full-bodied wines while Flamenco dancers put on a show.
A walk up rugged Montgó Mountain is essential. This striking massif will also be peering out of your photos in no time. Wander over to the quaint lighthouse, cast a fishing line out, or even go horse riding. Cap off a busy day with a peaceful stroll in this idyllic setting.

Just outside Benidorm, you’ll find the spectacular Algar waterfalls. Steps take you along the falls and, en route, there are rock pools, if you fancy dipping your toes in or going for a swim. Pop into one of the restaurants – handily, many of them have pools you can use.

Thirty minutes’ drive from Benidorm, the village of Guadalest balances precariously on top of a cliff. A little tunnel carved into the rock takes you to the bell tower and old Moorish castle. Meanwhile, the quaint streets and squares are filled with cafés, craft shops and museums.
