With its quirky beach bars and water sports for all the family, it’s no surprise Platanias is home to one of the most popular beaches near Chania. Swim in the warm waters and relax on the sands - you might even catch a glimpse of the endangered loggerhead sea turtles nesting on the shores!
The lively city of Chania is just a short drive away and well worth the trip. Visit a café at the Old Port for a true taste of the Mediterranean with lots of locally-grown delicacies, or why not head to one of the many markets for an impressive variety of handmade gifts?

One of the oldest olive trees in the world – and a protected natural monument – is about 15 minutes from Kolymbari. It’s part of a mill and old villa, so there’s more to see than you’d think. The age of the tree hasn’t been determined, but the walls and stones of the mill date back to 1850.

Aqua Creta Limnoupolis Waterpark has everything you could want in an aquatic day out – a massive central pool, snack bars, lazy rivers, freefall rides, and plenty of water slides.
